Let me begin by saying that I do not have a calibrated monitor. While they appear dark, I wouldn't say "very dark". My guess is that they will appear differently. Quickly took the last one into PSCC. Histogram looks fine:

Hi Pat I am not on my calibrated monitor .. on laptop. Your photos look good to me. #1 and #2 .. possibly a bit more details in shadows ... i.e. "lighten shadows" #2 and #3 possible a wee bit more contrast in the mountain trees. But overall, levels or okay.

Hi Pat, I do calibrate my monitor with a Spyder and my monitor is set at 60 lumins. Having said that, to me your images look a little flat and you are focused on the items nearest to you which would make the backgrounds appear darker. I took the liberty of doing an edit with my monitor calibrated at 60, so does this look to bright to you?

....this question is a lot like the dragon eating its tail (endlessly repeating!), but I have my monitor callibrated for 80 lumins so that if I ever print anything, the colors will come out properly in the print. I have posted a few images to f/b and am wondering if viewers will see a very dark version on their own monitors. Here are some samples from my recent trip through the Canadian Rockies..... Do you see a very dark image on your monitor? [editor's note.....you can see how high the water levels are.....] I used windows 10 calibration for my monitor and keep the lights in my room very dim ... your images seem just about right to me.

Thanks everyone! fotofrank, the right half does look a little greyer and brighter. I like it.

I'm on a laptop (non-calibrated) and at first thought the shadows might be a tad bit dark, but when I went to the full size file I found each to have very nice contrast with no blown out blacks or whites . . in my opinion ;^)
