Sorry for posting this later than usual. This month's challenge will hopefully be interesting in terms of the juxtaposition of modern technology (which we often think of as bright and colourful) and black & white imagery (which is often thought of as looking back to the past). What does our latest stuff look like in monochrome? Does it make us in any way look at it differently? Perhaps it'll help us focus more on the design of stuff rather than the function. Or perhaps I'm being fanciful. Anyway, I'm interested to see what you all come up with - and technology can of course be big or small, personal, corporate or public. Also your images can be abstract to refer to some of the less physical nature, or reder to how we are using it. It is all up to you. The main thing is to enjoy being in the monochrome mindset. And of course this should make an interesting contrast to last month's excellent images.

Here's the differential from an old Dodge being pulled for cleaning and rebuilding. B/W captured in camera using a Tri-X Push recipe on my Fuji X100V. Thanks for the theme Alex.

A piece of technology that we've grown used to being always available (and miss it when it stopped working for many in Canada last Friday!) Thanks for the theme Alex and a nice contrast to last month. Tony

Your image reminded me of some taken the end of last year.....certainly more interesting than my electric toothbrush and curling iron which I did take and decided against posting.

In June I was working with a "vintage" (read old) Pentax-A 135mm lens that I had bought, trying to learn the best way to use it. The lens is somewhere between 25 and 35 years old. It is a real treat to use and incredibly sharp. This photo was taken through a chain-link fence at a small electrical sub-station along the road. I thought the insulators at perfect right angles made for an interesting design. I finished the image two different ways, but I like this one with the dark sky in the background.

You've created an interesting abstract, Don. Well seen and edited.

Good eye, Photomono. I agree with Helen. Interesting abstract design.

As techie as I can be at times, this one stumped me until I got in my car to go to a doctor's apointment and then it struck me (not literally, thank goodness!). Cars have come a long way from having a speedometer and a gas gauge in front of the steering wheel. Back in the day, having a tachometer in your car was very advanced! Now we have so many bells and whistles that we don't even have to check our tire pressure any more...we have electronics for everything!

Here are two different treatments of an electric sub-station's distribution connections – one dark and one using a fading background. Like my previous post here, the photo is through a chainlink fence with a 135mm lens.

Saw this electric bike parked at the curb when I cam in today. I think it belonged to someone doing a delivery from a near-by restaurant.

Thank all for sharing your images; it is intriguing how the function comes out so well, particularly in those images with high contrast from deep blacks to bright whites giving an abstract quality.
