Auburn 852 Speedster Supercharged This is my first attempt at using actions. So I tried incorporating a sketch action by Sepiana and Frank and a "tablet" action by Panos FX. Added a Chestnut 1 texture from 2 Lil Owls. I wanted to make the little "home" button on the right side of the tablet a little brighter but couldn't get it selected using lasso or magic wand tools, etc. Can someone advise me on how to do that please, as well as how to fill that tiny square line with a brighter color?
Finally was able to get the home button brighter by making a black box with white border and then using file > place to drag it where I wanted it. I'm just not good with the various selection tools in Elements so had to go way around the barn to do it this way.

Jim , I'm sure there are a ton of ways to accomplish this, but I did it by making a selection of the rectangle around the white square with the marquee tool, then clicking on the Brightness/Contrast Adjustment Layer. This will create a mask so what you do only affects the selected area. Take the Brightness slider way up (I made it 100% to make it show, but you may want something different). Here's how it looks... (Of course, you can be more precise in your selection. LOL)
PS-I LOVE that car!

PS-I LOVE that car! Thanks for the info, Vicki. I'll check that out. Yeah, I wish I owned that car but it's one I captured at a car show. I believe it's a 1936 or '37.

This is definitely worth a WOW Jim - I love it. As VickiD has already said there is more than one way to do this and the way she has shown is absolutely fine. I think it's always good to have another method under ones belt too so fwiw here is my approach to this... Duplicate your finished page and on the duplicate go to Enhance >Adjust Lighting > Levels. Slide the white input lever to the left which will brighten up the whole image but don't worry about that, we will fix that in a minute. Just look at the part of the image you are concerned with brightening, and when you are happy with how it looks click OK. Now holding down Alt on Windows Option on a Mac click on the Add Layer Mask button at the top of the layers panel to create a black layer mask on the brightened layer. Said black mask will hide the whole of the brightened layer. With that mask selected use a brush with white (vary the opacity to suit) and brush over the area in this case the Home button, to let the lightened part show through as per my example below. Using this method allows you to brush over other parts of the image at the same time should you wish to make adjustments. I hope this is of some help.

Jim, I also have the Tablet action by Panos. You can adjust the brightness/contrast of that button from within the action. Next time, . . . 1. Run the action. 2. Ctrl-click on the main-button layer thumbnail, not on the layer name, to load it as a selection. (You will see marching ants around it.) 3. Create a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer. 4. Adjust the sliders as needed.

Thanks to everyone for your tuts on how to edit my Auburn Speedster image. I just added my updated photo in my original post. Took me forever but I'm gradually learning as I go. Thanks again.
