It's amazing how the relatively new photography technology 130 years ago was novel, interesting and yet needed to be tweaked. We haven't really changed that much; human vision is amazing and when coupled with perception I don't think modern cameras can match.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I've never heard of that particular process using a frame, mirror, and a pencil on a negative.

Ansel Adams did a lot of "photoshopping" on his negatives using dodging and burning tools. He wrote a book about it titled "The Negative."
