Caterpillar D10R Bulldozer

Spotted on the West side of KY Hwy 31E near Glasgow on the South Side.

This is not a very good photo and I almost didn't post it; however, This is a Rare Monster and it is untelling when I will ever get another photo of one.
If I had recognized just what it was, I would have had him turn the truck around and went back for some real shots.

On a poverty-level Kentucky budget, a 24-exposure roll of film would have two Christmases and a summer vacation on it and we might have to wait another six months before being able to afford developing the film.
I still have trouble remembering that it doesn't cost anything to take thousands of pictures; it just almost seems impossible to be true.

This dozer is no toy; however, to give you an idea of just how big the D10R in the previous post is, here is a comparison of overall weight and horsepower.

Caterpillar D10R = 613 Horsepower
Caterpillar D10R = 144,190 lbs Operating Weight

This dozer:
Case 550E = 75 Horsepower
Case 550E = 13,425 lbs Operating Weight

The Caterpillar D10R lacks a fraction weighing eleven times as much; the engine is over eight times as powerful.

In most states, a standard 18-wheel semi rig maximum gross weight is 80,000 pounds; the D10R weighs nearly twice that before you put a truck and trailer under it.
