I like the way the green leaves coordinate with the green in the pictures, Janice. And again a well-balanced page.

She’s going to have to take the ducklings across the parking lot to an apartment building. That’s where the water is. Good thing she has no streets to cross.

Although I've seen many Muscovy ducks wandering the parking lot, this is the first time I've seen any visiting our mom-to-be Was 'thrown' by that golden one, but in looking over photos of the breed, they do come in that color I wonder if either of them was dad? Eggs still look good and there were no signs of broken shells, although I did see some some broken shells last week but the count is the same??? I think. Most breeds of duck will hatch after about 28 days, but the Muscovy duck can take up to 37
Of course, I don't know when she laid her eggs, but it now doesn't surprise me they are still unhatched. I may have noticed them when they were first laid?? But, actually, I'm worried they aren't viable - they seem to be getting kinda bluish. I carry plastic containers to use for leftovers when we eat out so I grabbed one of them from the car to give her fresh water because the carry-out box I had been using was nowhere to be found. Like last week, she did not immediately go to the water although it was really hot when we got there.

I am enjoying following this story and seeing how you layout and color-coordinate your page, Janice.

Thanks Helen. When she goes off to the pond - whether it’s because she’s given up or she took the little ones there — I will miss her

That’s surely the baby shower committee, just checking up on Mum and getting a hatch date. She must go and feed sometime, I’m sure she appreciates the fresh water you provide.

I saw her chewing on some grass next to the bush. I thought the male would come and “spell” her so she could go eat, but I haven’t seen signs of that. But, then again, I only see her for very short periods of time.

Stopped by just to see how she was doing. Not sure if the eggs will ever hatch, but she's still there - patiently waiting. I could not see how many eggs were under her, but I did not see broken shells. Don't know how the egg got wedged under the wall...

Poor thing, I wonder how long she will sit there waiting. I hope it all turns out good for her and she has some lovely little chicks to care for.

I’m wondering if she kicked that egg away because she knew it wasn’t viable, she seems to have been sitting for a long time, hope you will see some ducklings next visit.

I put the egg on the edge of the visible part of the pile. Easy to kick it away again. I don’t know when she laid these eggs, but it takes 35 days to incubate We’ve been watching about 24 days. I’m sure we’ll miss the big event and never know the outcome unless she abandons the nest. The water is a substantial walk across the parking lot to an area near an apartment building. They hang around the parking lot at various times throughout the year. Never saw youngsters

Nothing changed this week. I think we are beyond the 35 day incubation period. I don't see any sign of hatching. Background made by blending a solid color with a distressed background paper Strips made with pulled pixels from the photos photos by cats4jan the one is circular because - again - I had my fingers near the lens - don't quite know why I continue to do that

I wonder how long she will continue to sit there before giving up!

I wonder if pontiac1940 might be able to shed any light on this? Do have to say that I really like the design of this page, Janice. Want to try to nudge you again to consider creating a gallery. It would be so nice to see some of your beautifully designed pages presented in a group.

I wonder if pontiac1940 might be able to shed any light on this? Well I learned something about Muscovy ducks! Who knew they take 35 days (up to 37) to incubate eggs! Here. All [duck] breeds hatch in 28 days with the exception of the Muscovy, which takes 35 days.Quite long for waterfowl. Large Canada geese only take 28 to 30 days.
So, cats4jan and hmca, the eggs should hatch soon unless they are "dead" (got cold?) or were unfertilized. An experienced female would "know" ... a first-time layer might still sit even of the eggs are "dead."
I am no expert.
Interesting.
Organic, free-range, GMO-free, gluten-free, vegan ducks.
