I would like to get some Tree Brushes and Bird brushes from Midnightouch in Deviant Art but how do I know if they will work in PSE11. She says something about Photoshop 7 does that mean they were made in Photoshop 7.? Thanks. Storm

Hi Storm, I am no expert on this, that is Sepiana's job, but I do believe they should work.

Hi Storm....there is a drop down menu at the bottom. You want to click load brushes and then append them to your brush set.....this will allow you to keep your brushes and add the new ones to the bottom of the list. Let us know if you run into a problem.

Hi Storm,
I believe the compatibility issue with brushes applies when you are using an older version of Elements; you may come across brush sets that don't work. Adobe made some changes in the brush engine -- brush sets created in newer versions of Photoshop won't work in older versions of Photoshop or older versions of Elements. This means that brushes made in Photoshop 7 will work in Elements 11.
BTW, if you post the link to the brushes in question, I will test them for you in this version of Elements.

Thank you Helen this method you showed me is this the one where I am only installing the brush for 1 session. ? If so where would I keep this ABR File ? If I install the ABR file in the Presets folder is this permanent ? If I get this same ABR file thro, edit>Preset Manager is this permanent ? Bit muddled & don,t want to slow down my PSE with lots of Brushes Fonts & all the other goodies we can get for free.
Thanks Sepiana not quite sure how to give you a link but will try a bit later. Storm

Storm,
Go to the website page where the brushes are and copy the address in the URL bar. Then, just paste it in your post. I will take it from there.
As a side note -- I don't install brushes permanently in Elements; I just load them (as Helen suggested).

Storm.....running our but will check back later. When you click the little arrow it allows you to just load the brushes. I don't use the preset manager. You can just load the brushes as needed and append......I keep mine in a folder on my external hard drive.

This is the site Sepiana midnightstouch.deviantart.com I am interested in Birds of a Feather 11 and Beyond the Mist. If I click on Birds of a Feather is that Green Arrow on the right the correct Download Button. ? If I install these Bird brushes for 1 session like Helen says then where do I find them in C>Program Files(86) >Adobe>PSE11>Presets? Thank you .Storm

Yes, you just click on the Download button next to the zip file.
If you load the brushes as Helen said, they will not be permanently installed in the Presets folder. They stay wherever you saved them on your computer (Documents, Pictures, etc.). You are just bringing them into the Brush Preset Picker to make them available to the Brush tool. Once you are done using them, if you do "Reset Brushes", they will be gone. Only the brushes which come with Elements will now be displayed.
Both brush sets work just fine in Elements 11. No problem whatsoever.
