I'm so confused! In PSE-12, I could "Save As" and "Recent Places" would show up and I could choose which folder I wanted to save into. Now, with PSE-13 I have to navigate to the folder I want each and ever time. I know there's a shortcut for setting this up but I can't remember what it is! Help!

I do apologize but I don't really understand the problem you are describing.
I have both Elements 12 and 13. When you do "Save As", Elements will save your file in the original folder the file is stored. This is updated automatically based on the file last opened in Elements. I don't understand the role of "Recent Places" in this situation. I may be wrong but I don't think you can add folders or files to "Recent Places".

I'm probably not using the right words, but let's suppose I'm working from a folder of unedited photos. Once edited, I want to save them in a Vacations file, and within that file I want to save to a 2015 Maine file. In the past, "Recent Folders" would show up so I could save to one of the several folders that I had used like "2015 Maine" or "2014 Washington". But now, I have to navigate each and every time to Pictures> Vacations & Trips> 2015 Maine.

Hi wewah, I think you will find the recent places above where your screen shot is showing. Your list is below This PC, and at least on my computer the recent places is above, under Favorites.

Now that I see your screen shot I know what you mean. Glad Tom figured it out.

No worries wewah, that is exactly why we are here, to help each other past those head-slapper moments.

Yay!!! Thank you so much, wewah, for asking this question After all these years, and years, using a Windows computer, I never knew that 'Recent Places' showed those recent files. Doh! I'd seen it, I suppose, but had never investigated what it was for ;p) Oh, that is going to be SO useful now that I know about it. Thank you, thank you, thank you wewah, Tom and Sepiana Julie

... to help each other past those head-slapper moments. I love that phrase - never heard it before but I will be using it regularly.

OK, now I know I'm not crazy! I just edited "Tea Ball" and wanted to put it in maybe a different folder and "Recent Places" isn't showing up....even under "Favorites"!!

wewah,
Let's try this.
Right-click on Favorites and select "Restore favorite links". Hope it works!
