Sorry I have been quiet. Interesting week to say the least. Monday: colonoscopy prep. Tuesday: colonoscopy. Wednesday: hang out and then drive 80 minutes to Police Outpost Lake and did some fishing. Thursday: wait for rain to stop, fish, camp, monsoon rain and wind, take photos. Friday: drive home, wife not very well. Saturday: my wife passes the rapid covid test will flying colors...she has The Rona. Me? I dunno yet, but she coughed last night and I was with her. What are the chances I won't get it? Oh well. Herewith the fishing trip. Note the lack of action fishing photos. That is because apparently, the trout all had lockjaw. Oh well. A good trip. The late-day, sunset light was worth all of the effort. You can spit into Montana on a windy day. This is the Police Outpost Lake on our side of the 49th and Chief Mountain in Montana.
We use low-key simple inflatable boats
We did fish a bit, but I'd have caught as many fish in the campground
The sky was clear for a while on Thursday evening. The Milky Way was amazing.
A ruffed grouse in camp
Well...what can I say? Shot just after a dark storm and the sun shone for a few minutes just before the sun set. The images were slightly underexposed and then lightened, otherwise are more or less as it appeared and as shot.
Quite possibly the best late-day light I have ever witnessed. The contrast between the dark sky and sunlit trees was amazing. Contrast is a big deal.

Thanks Buckskin. Next time, go Grouse hunting and you will probably get some fish photos. HA HA! I was duck hunting about 40 years ago and brought home a lake whitefish. When the irrigation systems are shut down in October water to large canals is shut off. Fish are trapped in the canals and salvage fishing is allowed. Anyway I was driving a canal bank road in hunting season and espied a few nice whitefish in a canal "pond." So I stunned one with the 12 gauge and was able to fish it out of the canal. Despite salvage being allowed, I am pretty sure using a shotgun would be frowned on by the authorities.
