Monday_24-October-2022 Bold Jumper Spider (Phidippus audax) with Cricket Victim
This dude was on the South-side driveway gate.
He was very active and quite fast considering his load; but, thankfully, he was still there when I returned with a camera.
Notice the eyes; they have eight eyes and stereoscopic vision.
The orange spot and markings are a much bolder orange in person; I figure the flash may have washed out the coloring.
You can learn all about them at Kidadl, Bio Kids, Insect Identification, Spider Identifications, Spider I.D., Bugguide, and Wikipedia.
Free Coloring Page He is sort of cornered in the latch area of the gate. As a size reference, the drilled hole is 3/8 and the chain slot is 5/16.
In these closeup lens views, the gate itself makes for an interesting subject, what with the MIG-welder spatter, rust, and flaking paint.
Like almost every gate on the place; this gate was built twenty-two years ago at H&S Gate, less than 3/4-mile from where she now hangs.

Sadly, I can only see empty squares
That's been the way of it with several threads the last couple days; some see pictures and others only see little squares. So long as the little squares were showing, I could not fix this on my end; it just kept using the images already uploaded.
Once the little squares turned into the big blue squares that said Image not Found, then I was able to replace them with a new upload of the exact same images - same name and everything.
When I saw that imgbb had given new names to the fresh uploads, I could see that I was gaining ground and things should now work.
I hope everyone else can see them now --- please let me know.
I hope you like them as this has been a big hassle.

Awesome BuckSkin. Cool looking spider. Sucks to be the cricket. Perhaps a bad choice of words since the spider probably injected enzymes into the body cavity and then sucked out dinner. Yum. Also like the metal paint and rust colors.

BuckSkin, these spiders don't look so scary when they're small out in the open...but close up, they are the stuff of nightmares! I, too, like the background...nice colors and sets off the black of the spider. Glad we finally got to see this guy.

I can see your spiders now too BuckSkin although you won't mind if I don't look too closely as I am definitely not a spider person! lol.

Good news - I can now see the spiders both the thumbnails and originals.
