Which do you like better? I think they are both too bare, but I didn't know where to go from here Slashes of ribbon were created when I used filter>distort to make the ribbon wavy and did something wrong

Cute page....I prefer the first one, Janice. I always think of the "left to right" idea with composition. I like the way the ribbons on the left are behind the bell and picture. To me the page looks more balanced.

I agree. And to me, the background is not as pale as no.2.

It's the first one for me too Janice for the same reasons Helen outlined.

Thanks for the input - I'm leaning toward the first one, too. It's actually, the 'do-over' - I, too, wanted that strip of ribbons to be behind the photos instead of by itself on the right.

Lovely page, is there a traditional Christmas bird? The year seems to have gone so fast, and I find myself searching for the Christmas spirit 😉

Well, Jacki - that comment was made up to fit my layout. I originally put a wrapped gift on the corner where the bird is now -- then found the bird in Wendy's kit. Decided, her looking at the bird was more interesting than looking at the gift.
Then the fact that all the pictures seemed to be about people looking for something -- "searching" came to mind -- then what are they searching for? Well, the bird, of course.
As far as I know, there is no "Christmas Bird" tradition in the States.
My layouts often take a 'sharp right' in the middle of creation. I start out with one thing in mind (or in this case, nothing in mind) and as I add backgrounds and 'doodads' and text -- the subject jumps into my head.

Janice, I agree with the others...the first one has a more pleasing composition. I'm not a fan of the bottom photo being butted up against the left of the page, so Helen's comment about having the photos on the ribbon seems to work for me. What a lovely and clever page! You could start a new tradition!!!

You could start a new tradition!!! But then I'd need a bird who doesn't mind dressing up in a cap and scarf...I've seen a lot of pet clothes in my time, but I don't know where you buy bird clothes.
