Fujifilm cameras have an in-camera option to filter out all but selected colors. I used it this morning to isolate this yellow van. You can see its sensitivity by the way it picks up the yellow in the tree moss and building signs. Thanks for the theme Helen!

That's a very cool feature to have, Bill. I like the way it kept the lettering as well as the van. I figured you'd get a new image for this challenge. I always enjoy seeing your morning walk images and am impressed with your commitment!

Jim ....a well-thought-out image for this topic. I like the way the colored reflection is tucked into the corner. Thank you Helen. Being mostly B & W, some may be wondering what that triangle of color is inside the shell-like fountain. It's just the strange way the shadows blocked it off and made it come out. I thought about cloning that piece out of the fountain but decided to leave it just as it actually looked. Here is the original for comparison in case anyone's interested.

I did notice that, Jim. I'm glad you decided to keep it in color as I like the added interest......and I like it the way it is presented for this challenge with the color just being a section of the image.

The cardinal that showed up this morning seemed like a good candidate as they always brighten up a dull day in winter (going to have to look for that Fuji option - this was done the selection and layer way): Tony

Great choice, Tony.....and I really like where he is positioned on the branch and in the frame of your photo.

I found the B&W image could have to much or not enough colour so after practicing with few images I opted for this one.

I found the B&W image could have to much or not enough colour I agree....it's a balancing act deciding what look we prefer for an image. I like that you have made the kayaker the star of this show, Jim.

This was the view from my side door in the last house I'll ever own in the snowbelt. Those trees were a nice buffer between our house and theirs, but when we revisited the house, we noticed the planting bed was gone, as were the trees. Now your view is the house next door. Huh??? Why??? I have to admit, snow can be beautiful.

Well seen, Jim. The faint use of color matches the "dinginess" of the scene. dandc....such a sweet picture....love the look in her eye...and works perfectly for this challenge! cats4jan.......your page works great for this challenge. How clever to perch the jay on the letter O!

I wanted to try the select color range technique to retain just the color of the man's jacket in this image I posted for the weekly challenge. It did a really nice job selecting the rim of his hood and the orange fabric that extends down on the right.
