Spotted this red barn today and thought it might work for this challenge. I did replace the sky which was blah in the original and did a color range selection to select just the red. Used a black and white adjustment layer on the inverse selection.  Tony |

It did a really nice job selecting the rim of his hood and the orange fabric that extends down on the right. Nice editing, Helen. I clicked on it (twice) to see it super large and then the orange hood rim and stripe on his left hip really stood out. |

This is an image from last spring. A street photo of a band that stopped and played for the family. A quick shot and of course lots going on. It has been on my desktop because I couldn't figure how to isolate the subjects. Today, when I was organizing my files, it occurred to me to try a b&w with color. I used a mask for the selective color and Silver Efex for B&W. I am happy with the results and it gives me closure.   |

Oh it works really well on the huge nutcrackers......bold is the word that comes to mind.

Great theme, Helen, I used to use this technique a fair bit so looked back through my old images to a couple I don't think I will have posted here:

Just before Christmas, when London was getting its icy blast (nothing in comparison to what others got, I know) I took this detail of the fountains in Trafalgar Square. At the time I desaturated the background a bit to make it less messy, but this Challenge made me think to go the whole way. I think it is a better result than my previous, so thank you Helen.

That works really well, alexr . The blue dolphin (?) sculpture and ice stand out beautifully against the background buildings. dennis9 .....I especially like the way the dog is sort of "hugged" by the boats in the background. Great submission for this challenge. |

Inspired by the four squares project at Digital Scrapper Photo: cats4jan Frame brush: Digital Scrapper This is as far as I could get - it feels unfinished to me. I added the outside frame as a last resort... Sometimes things just don't 'fall into place' when you are working on a layout
We were standing in the roof garden of the condo - the building was an old factory You can't beat the vast history that is Chicago
This was a reworking - I think I like the original better - even if it's a bit 'fru-fru' That edge on the background paper was my not-so-successful attempt at the torn look - I've never mastered the technique 
This was my scrapbooking style 15 years ago. Sometimes I feel I never evolved.  |
