I had some difficulty with interpreting "negative space", so had to wait to see what other contributors put forward and I tried to follow their lead. Hope this offering fits the bill. i.ibb.co/s5yL4M6/Out.jpgDennis

On a cloudless summer morning, blue has to be the dominant colour in this view of Dover. i.ibb.co/3BKFqxL/Sky.jpgI intended to echo the dominance of blue in a vista of sea and sky, but this intrusive red item kept shouting at me until I gave up, cut down the frame and allowed it to be the dominant colour. i.ibb.co/6RT2X14/Red.jpgBrenda

The Battle of Britain Memorial on the White Cliffs between Folkestone and Dover gives me my seat with a view. The airman is seated quite simply on the ground and contemplates the English Channel, where the historic conflict took place. It is always a moving sight and stops me in my tracks as I trudge along what is now the English Coast Path. i.ibb.co/thPs7D5/View.jpgBrenda

It's June; the sun is shining; at thirty-one degrees it's the hottest day of the year so far. It has to be time for a Saturday afternoon picnic in the Park. i.ibb.co/f83DKR7/B-Park.jpgDennis

My theme for this week is Tidal Revelations. My favourite time for a Thameside walk is when the River is at its lowest ebb. All kinds of curiosities are revealed. Here are just two. The remnants of a jetty, or Boatmen's Steps, as they were called. In the days when there was no road across the River except London Bridge, there were numerous small craft to take passengers over the River for a small charge. Just one of many crossing places revealed at low tide. i.ibb.co/8x943h4/11.jpgAnother revelation, just at the point where the River turns on itself as it loops between Tower Bridge and Greenwich, is a wonderful firm stretch of sandy beach, much beloved of dog owners, who are always there exercising their pets (incidentally, no doggy bags needed here, high tide will clear all away). i.ibb.co/PrYVKnd/22.jpgBrenda

This bone china cup and saucer belonged to my late Mother-in-Law, a birthday gift from an old friend . When we were looking after Mum in her final days, I tried serving her a small helping of ice cream in the cup and saucer in the hope of tempting her to eat a little something. She managed only a couple of teaspoons of ice cream but she insisted that, because we both had a May birthday, I should inherit her birthday cup and saucer. I often look at it now, in fond remembrance of a very dear lady. i.ibb.co/qnLjMqZ/CUP.jpgBrenda

Two places to play - some music while on the move in London. This piano sits in the very busy St. Pancras International Station, waiting for any stressed passenger to find relaxation if they have the talent. i.ibb.co/Ms60Q5T/B2.jpgAn official busking position at Green Park Underground Station. These special pitches are awarded to performers who have passed an audition with Transport for London and are licensed to play at any of these spots. More than one now famous singer/musician has earned money and recognition playing in the Tube. i.ibb.co/pr3zDN8/B1.jpgBrenda

The stained glass window above the altar of St Mark's Church in Kennington (just steps away from The Oval Cricket Ground) makes a colourful change from an external view. St Mark's was consecrated in 1824. It was badly damaged by bombing in 1940, so the window is probably at least partially restored. i.ibb.co/9yYFmhq/W2.jpgBrenda

A sad fate for what I guess was a once magnificent Tudor window in the Old Palace in Croydon, formerly the summer residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury. Budgetary constraints were no doubt responsible for its cruel mutilation; I only hope that the interior treatment of the window is much less ruthless. i.ibb.co/MgjBYMS/1.jpgWalking along Croydon High Street, it is always interesting to lift one's eyes above the modern shop fronts to the pleasing, old fashioned designs of the windows above. i.ibb.co/yRbZG7N/2.jpgBrenda
