It has been a couple of years since we posted here about issues the forum was having with adware and malware. It was mentioned at the end of the post that we had gone ad-free temporarily to help address the issue.
That "temporary" change has not gone away and we've been mostly ad-free since then. We corrected a configuration issue a few months back and I think it is safe to say we are completely ad-free. Proboards has been a very good solution for us, and going ad-free provides them a small revenue stream while preventing the ads that were annoying and resulted in the use of ad-blockers (which took away the revenue stream from Proboards).
Using an ad-blocker/anti-malware tool is still recommended as we can't guarantee the integrity of every link that might be posted on the forum, and we have had situations where either the forum software itself or the image hosting sites have issue.
