Update - I've been playing with styles and find the double clicking is working. I still will use drag and drop in cases where there are more layers on my project than just the one text layer I'm playing with. But, just wanted to let you know that double clicking works in PSE11 on a Mac.
Also - I've been playing with Visibility and it seems to work mainly with outer or inner glow styles. I tried the outline style and it doesn't work for them. I have some custom styles that have an outline or shadow component and in some cases, visibility works.
In some cases, Visibility works same as using the eyeball to shut off a layer - it just makes the whole thing invisible - style and text. Generally, I'm not sure how useful this style is - but it does work with some styles, so it has that use.
Think I'm done with styles for a while.

Sorry I don't know how to pick a section of someone's post to quote in isolation from the rest of the post.
Sepiana in response to one of my earlier comments you supplied a side note –
"This technique also works for text in the color 'black;. But you need to use the 'Screen' blend mode instead".
You are of course correct. I hadn't thought to try other blend modes. Thank you, something else learned.
A little aside - I found another way to apply an effect. Right click on the effect and choose 'apply to document'. Works for me in both Versions 11 and 13.

To copy part of a post, highlight the text and hit control/command C to copy it. Go to the reply box and choose quote. Hit control/command V to paste the text.
You use the full reply mode to find the quote option. Normally, you just see the quick reply and probably that is how you are used to replying. At the top of the box you can click 'reply' and a whole set of options appears.

There's another, perhaps easier way to quote part of a post. Highlight the text you want to quote - you'll see a little box come up that says "Quick quote". Click on it, then hit reply and the quote will appear at the top of your new post.

I always have trouble using quick quote, so I thought you couldn't do a partial quote with it. Thanks for the info,

I noticed that 'Quick Quote' box but didn't know how to use it. Thanks Major Major I'll try that in future too.
