Rita,
There is no need to apologize. I am really glad you brought up this issue. I believe this turned up to be an invaluable thread. As a matter of fact, I have already added it to my "Forum Help" database. It was a learning experience for me. Although I have been creating animated GIFs since Elements 4, I had never bothered to look into the role of those arrows (buttons). As I always say -- Living and Learning!

Sepiana, Let me know when you write that book based on your 'Forum Help' database so I can pre-order my copy. It should be a wild success. There really is no longer any authoritative reference source that goes into detail beyond the official User Guide. I spend some time on the Adobe Elements Forum, where I had not been in a while, and was shocked at the great number of unanswered questions. Even where there were answers they often were pretty vague.

You made me smile. Don't worry! If I ever write such a book, you will be getting a free copy (special delivery, signed by the author).
As a side note -- I owe it to Wendy. She was my mentor and she was the one who advised me to create such a database.
I have noticed the same thing. However, you could get a copy of The Missing Manual for Elements 13. The changes Adobe made between Elements 13 and 14 are insignificant. The major overhaul of Elements occurred back in version 11.
You are an experienced user of Photoshop. That will definitely help you. Elements has come a long way. Over the years Adobe has given Elements so many features which were only available in Photoshop that the so-called "poor man's Photoshop" is beginning to look a lot like its "big brother" (even if some of these features are a diluted version of their Photoshop counterpart).

Sepiana, I will wait patiently. In the meantime I'll follow your advice on the Missing Manual. Thanks. Rita
