Sepiana,
Thanks for posting the message with the filters image. I noticed that under "Noise" there was a filter for "Dust and scratches" I have PSE 13 and found it. Since I've been digitizing a number of slides, I found that some had lots of dust on them. I've been using the cloning tool to get rid of the dust. But now I've tried the filter for dust and it works well--it takes some getting used to, but it sure is easier.
Best,
Vlady

I also have Elements15. It downloaded just fine, but I just moved to high-speed fibre optic so that helped. I had an issue when I tried to set up a plug-in folder - I keep getting a message that one or more plug-ins are not available. I bypassed this issue by copying my plug-in shortcuts from Elements14 over to the plug-ins folder in Elements 15. [My plug-ins work fine, but I still get the message about missing plug-ins). I also had to copy my actions from the Required folder in Elements14 to the Required folder in Elements15.
One thing that I liked in Elements14 that I can't seem to do in Elements15 - I used to be able to put in a search word (i.e. swan) and all of my images with the word "swan" in the name would come up. Now the search seems to work on keywords and I don't use those. I got around the issue by using the Find - by filename menu.
It seems that CameraRaw is working faster and there is a better transition from working with multiple RAW photos and bringing them into the Editor than there was with Elements14.

Glad you noticed the Dust and Scratches filter. Success with your project!
I agree. That filter works pretty well. I usually follow these suggestions when using it.

Some plug-ins cannot be copied/pasted into another version of Elements. If they come with a self-installer (.exe file), you should run the installer. I got the same message when I tried to do a copy/paste job with certain plug-ins. If you are getting this message, this means the plug-in(s) didn't install properly. The recommended solution is to locate the "culprit" plug-in(s). Go back to the Plug-Ins folder and remove one plug-in. Then, open Elements and check to see if the message disappeared. You need to do this for each plug-in until you locate the one(s) causing the problem.
This is to be expected. Each version of Elements is an independent one. Add-ons are not automatically transferred from one version to another. When you install a new version of Elements, you are getting this program in its "virgin" state. I am curious. Which Required folder for actions are you talking about?

When I go into the folder called Elements15, one of the folders listed is called Required. That is the one I copy the actions to.

Starting with Elements 11, I have just followed Adobe instructions to load .atn files via either the Actions panel and/or the Effects panel.

Now that you mention it, I did have to load them individually after I copied them.

Now that you mention it, I did have to load them individually after I copied them. If I understand it correctly, . . . you are doing an unnecessary step -- copying/pasting the .atn files into the Required folder.
The ability to run actions in Elements 11 and above by just loading them (instead of permanently installing them in a folder within Elements) was one of the changes Adobe made in Elements. This feature was brought over from its big brother, Photoshop.

Still using my trusty old PSE 9, but have downloaded the new PSE 15 trial version. Just started digging around, but I notice that PSE 15 doesn't have an email option under the Share tab. Is this email option removed ?
Thanks for your help.

I notice that PSE 15 doesn't have an email option under the Share tab. Is this email option removed ? Hi zman, No. Adobe has not removed the email option. You need to be in the Organizer. All emailing starts there.

Last question for today ... Can I change the light gray on the Organizer and Editor to dark gray for easier viewing ? Thanks again In the Editor with an image loaded right click on the light gray background for the background color options. The Select Custom Color option allows you to choose any color. I don't use the Organizer.

As Moto already explained, yes, you can. However, this change will affect only the workspace. Also, it will be limited to the Editor module. I don't believe you can make such a color change in the Organizer's workspace.
I noticed you went from Elements 9 to Elements 15. Here is another change. Starting with Elements 10, you can no longer adjust the brightness of the User Interface by going to Edit>Preferences>General>Appearance Options> . . .

.
Yes you can't in the organizer and for the following reason: the interface is not only based on the tastes of the majority of users, it's optimized for a different job than the editing process, where a dark background makes colors 'pop' and your eyes don't get strained by the atrocious excess of luminosity delivered by all displays in factory mode. Whether you like it or not, the present choice for the organizer requires both a calibrated monitor and correct viewing conditions. Then, the texts are very comfortable to read, and you are able to distinguish the subtle shades of light gray which differentiate thumbnails: normal, stack/version set and selected items. Very important for hours of comfortable work in the organizer. Many users don't even notice the differences of grey shades and see 'white' background. That's a sure sign that the display is not calibrated or/and the lighting conditions are bad.
