Bonjour,
If I post images from my computer by using Postimage.org, where are these images stored? Can I manage these stored images where they are, including deleting them from there anytime I want?
Merci!

Hi Fauxtoto, postimage is a free image host service for integration into forums. I know that the images are stored on a server, but am not sure if there is any way to go and delete them from that server.
I am sure someone else will be able to answer your question in more detail.

Another query is, re using postimage.org, are there any implications if the image file is later moved to another location, either on the same computer or if moved to an external hard drive etc? What has caused me to think of this is that seemingly the image is replicated from on your machine. However, I am wondering if I have misunderstood as being stored on a server has now been mentioned. Sorry if I'm completely 'off the trolley' but I'm confused (easily done these days) Many thanks

Julie -
When you use postimage, you upload the image from your computer onto postimage's server, where it is then stored. Nothing you do on your computer after that will affect an image posted this way.
Help this helps.

Thanks very much for the clarification

Merci! They are stored on a server that is managed by whomever runs postimage. They don't provide much info on their site. I don't believe you can manage your images once they are loaded there.

A related question about postimage.org - will our images always be visible? One of the annoying things about Pixentral is that x years down the line you would click on a thumbnail to be greeted with a 'blah' page!

"3) How long will images be left on the server?
You can upload unlimited images per post will never have to worry about your images being removed for inactivity."

Bonjour,
Thank you all. I appreciate the utility of a resource like Postimage.org for an organization like this one. I may use it a few times. I will however look to register to a service such as Flikr; on my list...

While I read the same language on the postimage.org site that Sepiana did, I remain a bit skeptical about it lasting forever. Any number of things could befall it and the images might be lost. It think it is great for sharing images on this forum, but I'm not sure I trust it for permanence. I would stick with Flickr, 500px or another photo sharing site if you want to increase the likelihood of your photos being there a long time.
