This looks interesting, I dont suppose you could share that file with me please.
ipbr21054, I am on the same wavelength as Helen. I believe you can do it.
ipbr21054, when once you give this a try, I'm sure you will be able to do it yourself. I wrote the directions quickly last night when I was very tired. Post back if you run into a problem.
Her suggestions will enable you to achieve the effect you want in a very easy way.
I am wondering if you could just make a big black rectangle. I took a screenshot of your items and then used the rectangular marquee tool to put them all on their own layer. I then increased the canvas size of the background layer by 200% Then I used the bottom right image as the starting position. Using the arrow keys I moved the image to it's left and counted how many spaces I wanted to move it. Moved the other two items in a similar fashion. This would give you four items spaced to your liking on a black background. At this point crop the rectangle to your desired size. I followed her instructions. See the screen shot below. It shows how the work will progress as you follow her instructions.

You mention increase canvas size by 200%. When i go to Image, Resize, Canvas and alter to 200% i dont see a black box like you do but i see a black box with a larger area behind which is transparent like if you deleted it using magic wand tool ??

At the bottom of the canvas resizing dialog, make sure you have "Canvas extension color" set to black.

I created a new file 3688 x 3688 Coloured it Black. Imported a screen shot of the photos. Used Rectangle M Tool.
Photo & 4 other items are just blank transparent board with no photos.
Also i dont even see my background 3688 x 3688 in this work space but on its own

When i go to Image, Resize, Canvas and alter to 200% i dont see a black box like you do but i see a black box with a larger area behind which is transparent When you created your new file, if you selected Transparent in the Background Contents box in the File>New>Blank File dialog, Elements will automatically use the same Background Contents (Transparent) for the canvas extension color when you did Image>Resize>Canvas Size.
In PSE 7 you have ONLY three choices of Background Contents -- White, Background Color, Transparent. If you want Elements to use the color Black when you resize the canvas, you need to do this.
1. In the Tools panel, set the Background color to Black. 2. In the File>New>Blank File dialog, select Background Color in the Background Contents box.
When you do Image>Resize>Canvas Size, Elements will automatically set up the Canvas extension color to Black.

Would you please post screen shots of your workspace, including the Layers stack? It helps a lot when we are doing troubleshooting if we can "see" what is going on. Thanks!

See this. www.befunky.com/create/collage/I am not familiar with this online collage maker. I did some checking. It looks like once you upload your four images to create a collage, you can save your collage as either a JPEG or a PNG file. In both cases you will get ONE layer (a flattened file) with your four images on it. The JPEG file will display a Background layer (locked); the PNG file will have a "regular" layer (Layer 0). Then, you can just bring the file into PSE 7 for further editing.

I sent the link to show what i am trying to replicate in PSE OK. If that's what you want, you can replicate that collage in PSE 7. Please refer to Helen's suggestions.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I have to admit I am bit confused. My apologies for asking this question but . . . how does this screen shot relate to the problem you described earlier?
