Thanks for the twist - Lillias! To achieve this effect. Set your default to Black and White (Keyboard shortcut press the letter d) Add a layer between color and grid - rename it glass Fill the glass layer with black Go to Filter>Render>Clouds Go to Filter>render>Different Clouds Go to Filter>Filter Gallery>Distort>Glass Settings: Distort=20, Smoothness=3, Texture=Frosted Press OK Change the Blendmode to Linear Dodge as a start point - try other blend modes to season to taste.

Frank, thanks for taking the time to write these instructions!
BTW, a long time ago I created some stained glass textures. If anyone is interested in having them, the files (zip folder) can be downloaded from the thread below.

Thanks for the twist - Lillias! To achieve this effect. Apologies Frank I wasn't meaning to hijack your tutorial to give you more work when I posted my last image however you have risen magnificently to the challenge in providing the extra instructions to do this. Thank you. Thanks too to Sepiana for making her Stained Glass Textures available to all.

Now that we are home, I got to try out this effect. I used a gradient in place of filling the individual squares with color. Now seeing Lillias' image and the following directions I may open it again and apply the glass feature.....

I used a gradient in place of filling the individual squares with color. Helen, very original tweaking! I really like the effect. It shows how versatile Frank's tutorial is. Lots of possibilities!!!

Thanks, Sepiana . I am now trying to get the glass look but not having much success....perhaps because I didn't follow the original directions for size of the image. Anyway, I created a layer as Frank suggests and then added your glass texture on top.....still not happy with it but will post.

This time . . .
- Applied the Color blending mode (25% Opacity). - Ran the file through Topaz Studio (AI ReMix). - Applied Filter Forge (Glass & Plastic texture, Multiply blending mode, 75% Opacity). - Image source: Freeimages (starter image, EP Challenge No. 15).

Using Helen's idea of a gradient(diamond). Masked out the Eyes.

Going down the same route -- Helen's idea of using a gradient.
- Applied a gradient by Blake Rudis (Reflected, Multiply blending mode, 100% Opacity). - Applied my stained glass texture (Overlay blending mode, 100% Opacity).

Just exploring the possibilities this tutorial offers.
- Applied the Color Dodge blending mode to the Color layer (25% Opacity). - Applied the Subtract blending mode to the Image layer (100% Opacity). - Applied a Mythical Light texture by Pro Add-Ons (Screen blending mode, 25% Opacity). - Applied an abstract/out-of-focus texture by [name?] (Saturation blending mode, 75% Opacity).
