I'm glad you got some of the masks Helen and you have made good use of a couple here. Looking lovely.

Great use of the masks on those images, Helen. Here is another image I used Jerry's splatter mask No 2 on, but modified it slightly by replacing a few white areas with black so that it didn't detract from the lovely face of this statue that I photographed in the Royal Botanical Gardens.

I have finally had a chance to read through quite a bit of this expansive thread and my takeaway is that BillieJean's knowledge and skills with masks are super extraordinary! It has been fascinating watching Helen's wonderful progress. I have been so inspired by the awesome work by you both that I just purchased the brayered blocks mask set from French Kiss. Leslie Nicole has got some seriously nice stuff (just wish the Australian dollar wasn't so weak against the greenback or else I would buy some other things that I saw).

Here is an image in which I used the No 5 and No 11 brayer block masks from French Kiss which I purchased last night along with a watercolour texture from Abbie (sorry I don't know her surname). I followed BillieJean's steps in this thread to create it. The key point I learned in this exercise is that the flower image and mask it gets clipped to are not then clipped to the second mask. The second mask serves as an underlying embellishment. I never would have figured that out - thanks heaps BillieJean! The other major takeaway from reading one of Helen's posts was that the French Kiss masks needed to be converted to the sRGB colour profile, otherwise the flower image atop it was displaying as shades of grey - thanks Helen!

my takeaway is that BillieJean's knowledge and skills with masks are super extraordinary! You give me too much credit Sydney but thank you anyway. I love what you have done with the French Kiss masks and the photo of that beautiful flower. Very romantic and would grace the front of a Valentines card nicely. It is great to be able to use the masks as a separate embellishment as it gives another way of working with them.

Great job with that, Helen. Nice to see you use the texture, Utopia which you gave the name to Goes nicely with the flower.

How careless of me to forget the name that I christened that texture, Sydney. Thanks for reminding me. I have changed its name to reflect its grandeur!

There is soooooo much valuable information in this thread about using masks. I like the effect that a mask can add to a textured image. To create this image I created a new layer above the finished textured image. I then used brushes and stamped them repeatedly to create the mask..... This is for you whippet.

Now see what you started. Got me going on masks again…lol I did this page and then did a breakdown of the various elements that make up the page to show how I put it together in case anyone might find that helpful. It helps to see the breakdown of all the elements you used to create your page, Lillias. Something that I don't remember you doing before was the partial frame. But that could be because I wasn't paying close enough attention. I would like to try that. Perhaps later this afternoon or evening I'll see what I can come up with.

I'm glad you find the breakdown of the page helpful Helen - I was hoping it would be helpful for anyone interested in having a go. As for the partial frame, I have used it before (see link below) and I think it's something that can be quite effective. photoshopelementsandmore.com/thread/5641/old-man
