I like the result PeteB offered the best so far.
Pete, what do you mean by "cropped using the golden rectangle"? I know what a golden rectangle is, but is that a setting somewhere, or did you just crop using the golden ratio values?
Hi Tom In an image, I like to use the the golden ratio (instead of the rule of thirds) to position a point of interest. I have a grid that creates a golden rectangle and I use it in combination with the marquee tool for positioning and cropping. I have not used the Elements cropping tool but I think it (only) offers the rule of thirds for positioning and cropping. Thanks for asking.

The Crop tool's Golden Ratio grid is available in PSE 10 through PSE 12; Adobe removed it in PSE 13. The alternative posted on the Adobe forum -- Define your custom ratio. Width (1618 px) x Height (1000 px)

In this version I correct the White balance in ACR and then in PSE I adjust the red, green and blue channels in a Levels Adjustment layer to give all 3 channels a near enough to full tonal range to hopefully result in realistic colours throughout the scene - at least on my screen they are.

I'm half-way through a course from Matt Kloskowski on adjusting lighting in Lightroom so this seemed like a good candidate to try out what I've learnt so far. Decided I wanted to aim for a sunset look so Basically used adjustment brushes to selectively adjust things like temperature, colour, clarity and exposure. Cropped to the "Rule of Thirds" and did slip into ON1 at the end to add my favourite Big Softy vignette although I could probably have done that in Lightroom, PS or PSE too. I might have to have another go when I've finished the course! Tony

I wanted to mimic the effect I would have researched when drawing manually in black and white. Editing in Elements 2018 ACR, then various layers with gradients in multiply mode and elliptic selections in screen mode. The scenery calls for peace and luminosity of the central subject.
