The Black and White Challenge is posted on the first Thursday of the month. I am willing to continue to host this challenge if someone will step up to share the responsibility. Basically, a theme is posted for the month with some additional information and some examples of the kind of images that represent the theme. If you would be interested in co-hosting this challenge, please respond below or PM me. Thanks, Helen

I hope someone will step up and take on the challenge. As admins and mods we try and make this forum fun and engaging, and that includes taking on the lion's share of the work as it relates to the challenges. As members, if you appreciate doing these challenges, it would be great if you could volunteer just a little time to help (and it doesn't have to be on this challenge in particular. We are always looking for IOW judges, for example).

Helen, I'm going to be honest and open here, hopefully by way of encouragement to others who may be in the same position as me. I sat down this morning to type you a private message to apologise for being unable to help but didn't want it to look as if your request had been completely ignored. My reason for not stepping up was that I didn't feel that I had the time to commit to such a regular commitment. But as I typed it out I realised that actually it was a bit pathetic. You were only asking for a co-host, so at worst it was every other month. And it will take under an hour to actually create the thread, and I'll be thinking of potential themes and examples throughout the previous month anyway. And I have learned a lot and gained in confidence from this forum (and indeed this specific thread) so I do want to see it continue and thrive. So yes, I'm happy to share the hosting. And I say it publicly in case it helps someone else wavering and now they may think, ok, if I join in too it is only every third month. Or fourth or fifth... Hope that helps.

alexrI am so pleased to see your response. It is reassuring to know that this challenge will continue. Your suggestion that others join in the effort was one that I hadn't considered, but is a great idea! It will be totally up to you as to how much time you want to put into creating your posts. I am happy to take November so as to give you time before your first posting. I don't think I am the only member who looks forward to reading your thoughtful critiques as a IOW judge. I appreciate that you have taken on this added responsibility. If this is something other members have considered, I hope you will respond to Alex's suggestion and join our team of two!

Bravo, alexr. I found it a really good feeling, to be able to give something back for all of the pleasure I have had by being a member of this forum. Unfortunately Helen, I know less about black & white than I do other things.

Thank you for stepping up alexr. You will do a wonderful job helping us to improve our skills.
After one of my images was referred to as looking "blah" (not by you of course), I am not in the same league.
Out of curiosity, I did a quick search of the the word "photographer" which sepiana has used on numerous occasions to identify photographers on this forum.
Hopefully some of them will be inspired by your post to also step up so we can all benefit from their knowledge and skills as well.

Thank you hmca
That is exactly the point I was making. Some very knowledgeable photographers and art/scrapbook creators have been identified on this forum. Hopefully some more will step up to take more of a "leadership" role to guide us members through the tips/tricks/discussions in the various challenges.
