So now all the photos have been converted. In the folder i see the original ASW files & also the DNG files. In PSE7 when i click on a DNG to load / open it i see a message Cannot Open.
So i try in PSE( but i see the icon in pse just going around then i see at top of screen Photoshop not responding. Then i must ctrl Alt Delete to exit.
I assume codecs were installed in the installation of DNG ?
Getting there but very painful process

Still not much luck since installing DNG Converted all ARW files & now i also have DNG files.
In PSE7 when i file, open & select a DNG file i see a message "Cannot Open".
I try with PSE9 but it just crashes with Not Responding on the top task bar.

Just another update for you. I read that my Sony A58 needs Camera Raw Plug in 7.4 or greater.
In PSE7 Help,About Plug In,Camera Raw i see Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw version 4.5.0.175
In PSE9 Help,About PLug In,Camera Raw i see Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw Version 6.1.0.250
So neither are 7.4 or higher. I though that by installing the DNG converter then my PSE would open the files but looking at this i think i need to update a later Camera Raw Version.
Now i would like some help / advice when anybody is available. My DNG Converter that i managed to install & get running was version 8.8
Many thanks

I see the system requirements are Windows 7 SP1 or later. I am running Windows 7 64 bit with SP1. I assume you have run the SP1 update. I have just installed Adobe DNG Converter v11 and this is a screen shot of what I get at the completion of the installation. The Windows explorer window on the left pops up automatically at the end of the installation before I click the Finish button in the installation window on the right. The Windows explorer window shows the path where the DNG converter exe is located. Run the installer again and post a screen shot of your desktop when the installation completes but before you click the Finish button. Click image for clearer enlargement

Hi, I have Windows 7 SP1 & no other update is available when i check. My Pc is 32 Bit.
Starting from say post 3 i mentioned that after i installed version 11 i see the successful message but only had the option to click on OK & that was it. Since then been trying to find anything in respect to the icon & DNG but nothing.
I installed version 8.8 & once installed like you say a folder opens and the icon is shown. So i do see what you mention above but only with version 8.8 I am yet to find another installer after 8.8 and below 11 as 11 for me dont work for some reason.
If i run again i only see what you have above with regards the right photo.

... The output folder Program Data is where all the various camera profiles are stored for use when using Adobe Camera Raw. Unless something weird is happening, and I see no reason for it to, that DNG Converter file should be in C: > Program Files > Adobe There will not be a specific DNG Converter folder; it will just be in the main folder. Hi Buckskin, I think you have a much earlier version of the DNG Converter installed. What version do you have? I have just installed v11 and it is in the "Adobe DNG Converter" folder - see my previous post for screenshot.

Ok, then the only difference I can see from the info in your posts is that your PC is 32 bit and mine is 64 bit. I am not sure if that is the reason why your installation is not working.

Ive just come across this on google.
You can't install Camera Raw 7.4 in Elements 9
To make use of the RAW photos from your camera, you need to download and use the free Adobe DNG Converter version 7.4. This will convert your RAW photos to a format the PSE 9/ACR 6.5 can use.

Ive just come across this on google. You can't install Camera Raw 7.4 in Elements 9 Let's try to concentrate on this (with help from Adobe).
Support for your camera (Sony A58) was introduced with Camera Raw 7.4.
Cameras supported by Camera Raw
Elements 7 got shipped with Camera Raw 4.5; the latest Camera Raw update compatible with Elements 7 is 5.6 Elements 9 got shipped with Camera Raw 6.1; the latest Camera Raw update compatible with Elements 9 is 6.5
Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
You cannot install Camera Raw 7.4 in either Elements 7 or Elements 9. It is not compatible.
Here it is: Adobe DNG Converter 7.4 (Windows)

I understand way back what was wrote but then we went down the track of installing version 11 then looking for reasons why it wasnt where it was supposed to be.
Anyway. Elements 9 needs Version 6.5 Adobe Camera Raw installed. Then you need to use DNG Converter 7.4
Double click on the DNG file and ACR opens up with the image selected, clicking on Open them puts that photo into PSE9
