Thanks for your Rustic Painterly Effect Judy; that was fun! Here is another really fun and easy effect. The basic idea is to create a small planet using one of your landscapes which includes some sky. I am really looking forward to what you do with your world after your create it! Here is my first go at it.

Very nice effect and easy tutorial to follow.
The only problem I have is finding an image that works  .
It looks like the content nearby the left and right vertical edges needs to be very similar otherwise the joint after I do the Polar Coordinates step is messy and very difficult to make look seamless.
I'll keep trying to find a suitable image.

The tricky part is creating a seamless join when the content near the left and right vertical edges do not match very well, as in my case.

Thanks for giving a go Bailey! The issue you raise is certainly real. What I do is “cheat” by increasing the canvas size 100% horizontally, Duplicating the Image, flipping the copy horizontally and then moving them left and right so the edges now exactly match. I hope that makes sense. It makes any image amenable to this technique. |

This effect is lots of fun! "Inhabited" small planet made of red rocks, forests, and waterfalls (Sioux Falls, SD).

I used the duplicate and flip method to create a seamless image although the result is two Walkie Talkie buildings instead of one in this London skyline scene. The brown blob in the middle is the River Thames from where I took the shot. This is a fun technique and I'll have to look around for some other images to try it on.  Tony |

One more - it's addictive! This started life as a Chihuly glass sculpture in a field of tulips - again I used the duplicate and flip horizontal method of creating a seamless image.  Tony |
