Hi everyone, Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread. - Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.
NOTE
This week's theme is about shooting your subject in a portrait (vertical) orientation. Do not rely on post-processing cropping; make your camera do the work. Tell your camera which way is up!

As long as I was looking sideways, I snagged a second one from a little bit downriver.

Since we moved to Punta Gorda last week, we have admired this post box in the house opposite. Thank you Sepiana, for giving me the incentive to look closely and take a photgraph of it. i.ibb.co/BNvQznH/image.jpgDennis

I really like the angle of your shot Wayne, especially when I look at the enlargement.............and thank you also for confirming that submitted photos can be taken before the week of the challenge as I noticed while viewing the enlargement (photo taken 27 Mar 2019 according to exif data).

Thanks Bailey, I haven't posted too many pictures since getting this camera in January, and I would have preferred it not being this large, so it looks like I'll have to downsize things a bit, before posting! I wasn't aware of the fact the pictures had to be taken within a week of the challenge, and looking at the instructions at the top of the challenge, don't see anything referring to that! "Hi everyone, Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? I don't want to get in the middle of that discussion, but my initial interpretation was that you had used the same picture a few weeks earlier, and perhaps could have been worded differently! I think we have a pretty good forum here, and let's not set so many rules that it will take the fun out of it!

... I think we have a pretty good forum here, and let's not set so many rules that it will take the fun out of it! I agree 100% My reasoning is if members use their cameras nearly or every week anyway, then it shouldn't matter when the photo was taken especially when, like you, my interpretation of the vague "rules" for this challenge is that any photo that fits the week's theme is acceptable. When able to, I will continue to submit photos that fit the weekly theme. Case closed your honour

On the subject of the recent controversy over the Weekly Challenge, I am somewhat confused. When I first joined the Forum, it was clearly stated that only photos taken during the week FOLLOWING the announcement of the theme were acceptable. Subsequently, the rules were relaxed and we were permitted to submit photos after the relevant week had elapsed. I never saw it mentioned that shots taken EARLIER could be submitted. I can't think that the idea is really to trawl through one's collection to find a suitable shot from way back. Rather the rule should be: photos taken any time AFTER the initial announcement of the theme. After all, the whole idea and aim of the theme is to get us out there, using our eyes and our cameras - that's how it works for me anyway. I stand open to correction. Dennis

Dennis I agree with you. I feel the challenge is to get out and shoot a photo that fits the challenge not look back at the hundreds of photos I have that fit the challenge. Please, Bailey do not try to make something out of nothing.

Personally I believe choosing an appropriate image from one's collection for the challenge also has merit such as reviewing the editing technique, or choosing the original and completely re-editing.

Minimal photoshopping is requested, per the instructions. This challenge is a perfect example. Unless you turn your camera on it's end, the photo doesn't really qualify for the challenge. Most are at ease using their camera the "normal" way and don't always think about the "other" orientation and that is what this challenge is all about. Grab your camera (as stated above) and experiment in portrait orientation.
