I know I have a hard time evaluating my own work, Dan. Would you want to post a before image and get some member input?

Good idea Helen - I added the before shot to the original post.

I can understand why you are questioning whether textures help to tell the story here, Dan. I have taken screenshots of both images and have compared them side-by-side. To be honest, I am torn. I like the combination of the blue/gold colors that form the backdrop for the birds in your original image. I also think the birds stand out better in this version. The textured version has a warm glow that definitely changes the overall story and gives it more of a cohesive look. It seems to me that making a choice between them would come down to deciding between a true representation or an expression of your creative vision. Maybe someone else will weigh in here.

Well, i like both versions but I like the one without texture more. I think it’s because the textured version to me has minimal “texture”. The color is more predominant than the texture to me. I don’t care for that color for that picture. My thoughts only🙂. Each to his own as they say

Began with a Photomorphosis preset (forget which one) in On1. Went on to process further in PS and added additional texture and birds using a bird brush.

Great job Helen - those presets in On1 really elevate a photo - great touch with the added birds.

Thanks, Judy and Judy! On1 is my favorite starting place when using textures, Judy.

Wild ride, Judy. Black and white works so well with your texture. Glad that we can use this thread to inspire each other.

A nice mix of texture/scrapping, Jacki. What font did you use? I really like it.

Thanks Helen. Textures are soooo much fun! I actually tweaked it after I posted it. Uncovered a little bit of the post the ride is attached to. Something was amiss for me. I had it printed in just a 5/7 and it turned out kind of cool as it’s not all black and white. It has some really light pastels.
