Helen, that is gorgeous. What techniques did you use to get that lovely soft effect?

Thanks for the nice comments on this image. Pauline, Because I work in trial and error mode and keep making adjustments, deleting layers, creating stamped layers along the way.....all in all with no rhyme or reason; I never save layers. However, I can share the original and give you some idea of things I tried. Because I tend to like my flowers to be light, I probably duplicated the image and used the screen blend mode and then adjusted the opacity at the start. I used selection tools to cut out the part of the image I wanted to use. I always keep that original selection to go back to....sometimes I place it over an adjustment and mask or adjust opacity. Early in the process I took the flower into Topaz Impression (plug-in....I don't have studio). I think I may have used one of the watercolor filters. Placing the Impression layer above the original cut-out layer I adjust the opacity and use a mask to determine what I want to paint in/out. I remember using the poster edges filter with the settings of 0, 0, 6. I had intended to use a different texture but found myself going back to one of my favorites......Creme Anglaise. I bought this texture years ago. It is part of the Spring Painterly pack from Fly Paper textures. At the end I used high pass sharpening on parts of the flower......again by using a mask on the high pass layer. Looking at your question again....I think probably bringing the image into Impressions and then layering that over my image is something that I am finding I do often. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Original:

Judy, we are continuing to inspire each other. That's a good thing. I think we are our own toughest critics. Your flower is beautiful, and I like the dusty/hazy feel you have given it. I have a friend who will often suggest a tighter crop to me. Looking at your image I am wondering how it would look if you cropped off the area to the left? A tighter crop would fill the image with those layers of lucious petals. Just a thought, but I like it how you've presented it as well.

Helen - here is a cropped version. Is this what you had in mind? hmmm, now that I posted it, I think the lower left needs to be cropped off. i.ibb.co/Xk7z0W2/DSC-2350-Edit.jpg

Purple/yellow good color combo, Judy! The drape of the fabric works really well in this one....nice! For the peony I might make it more portrait and not have the center in the center......but I could be all wrong about this....
