blackmutt, you've hit on some of my favorite artists and sources. I absolutely love your line of trees and agree, Jamie Heiden would also make something from this image! I've purchased brushes from Distressed Textures and collected many textures from Lenabem Anna among others. There are so many resources out there that you can get lost (I call it going down the rabbiit hole--lol).
Your bales of hay in the field has the same aesthetic as an Old Masters painting...excellent!

BG Image from Pixabay, flower image from Hiclipart. Took into Affinity Photo and applied a levels adjustment on both. Then applied the lighting filter and a touch of texture to the flowers.  |

My peonies bloomed so I decided to try a couple of textures from 2 lil owls. I treated myself to her blooming course. Has hours of videos, 30 textures and 50 presets for Camera raw/photoshop.
