Charles, Go to View>Grid to turn the grid on and off. (Shortcut = Ctrl+') Gridline every -- Use this field to adjust the gridline marks. Subdivisions -- Use this field to control how many lines (if any) appear between each gridline. I was very surprised to see the Grid does not turn off when I close Elements and then at a later time re-open Elements and it is still turned on. That I really do not like.... but I guess I will have to learn and remember to turn it off every time I use it. THANK YOU for showing me how to turn it off!!! I just now opened a photo in Elements and was surprised to see the grid is already turned off..... seems strange to me..... When I tried the shortcut of CTRL + it zooms in on the photo, CTRL - zooms out. Why do you say CTRL+ will turn on or turn off the Grid? If I go to VIEW>Grid then yes it does turn on or off Do you understand (I am sure you do!) the difference between "Gridline every" and "Subdivisions"? When you use the Grid do you have a typical set of numbers you use? Is there a way to change the default numbers to something different from default? Thank you Sepiana!

You missed one key -- ' (Apostrophe).

Hi Charles. I hope you don't mind me trying to answer your question.
I just now opened a photo in Elements and was surprised to see the grid is already turned off..... seems strange to me..... When I tried the shortcut of CTRL + it zooms in on the photo, CTRL - zooms out. Why do you say CTRL+ will turn on or turn off the Grid? If I go to VIEW>Grid then yes it does turn on or off That IS very confusing! As you said, if you hold down the CTRL key and press the negative key (-) it zooms out.
You can see some of the other keyboard shortcuts in the drop-down menus. For example, if you click Edit in the main menu you will see some of the more common shortcuts, such as Ctrl+C for Copy and Ctrl+Z for Undo. What is important to notice is that the plus symbol is used here to indicate holding the Ctrl key and the C key simultaneously (the plus is not a key to be pressed).
If you click on View in the main menu you will see that the keyboard shortcut to Zoom Out is Ctrl+- and the keyboard shortcut to Zoom In is Ctrl+= (please notice that the + symbol and the = symbol are on the same key).
I really do hope that helped Charles.

At least not for me.... CTRL on the far left + on far right and ' off center to the right a bit. I have not been able to do all three at all yet. I will stick with View / Grid!!

Charles, please read my reply to you.
The + is NOT a key to pressed. Replace the + with the word AND. Ctrl+’ means Ctrl AND ’

Tom, You are MORE than welcome to help me out when ever you wish! I do know most of the short cuts, and do use many nearly every day. I do not use Elements that much so I do not remember the short cuts here. Thank you! Besides.... you are the boss!!! <grin>

Subdivisions -- Use this field to control how many lines (if any) appear between each gridline. Going back and refreshing all this information: Subdivisions -- Use this field to control how many lines (if any?) appear between each grindline. When you say " if any" are you saying there may not being any lines in a grid? How could there not be any lines in a grid? Example please?

Charles, The Subdivisions field is where you control the number of lines to be visible between each gridline. The default is 4 lines. If you change it to 1, you will get no lines between each gridline.
