Some weeks ago, I made mention that when I click links on this site they always get blocked. I participate in dozens of various sites and this is the only place that I get this; so, whatever is causing the block must be something considered to be pretty mean stuff. Here is the warning notice that I get with every link I click on:
>>> Well...., I was going to post the screenshot, but I see no means to simply browse and attach an image and am hesitant to use imgbb, so here in plain text is the gist of what it says:
uBlock Origin has prevented the following page from loading
(http address of viglink followed by the http address of the link)
Because of the following filter
l l viglink . com^
Found in: Peter Lowe's Ad and tracking server list

Thanks for reporting this, BuckSkin . Andy has enabled adfree on our forum. This seems to have eliminated the problem associated with images that have been uploaded using imgbb. Can you please give us a couple of examples of the posts where the links created the issue for you? When you say links I am assuming you may mean like those attached to this post that I made in Digital Scrapbooking. I am going to call this to the attention of Andy and Tpgettys .

I had not noticed this before, but the elimination of ads must be the reason why Norton Internet Security no longer objects to use of the site.

the warning notice that I get with every link I click on You said you get a warning on *every* link you click on; is that really what you mean? For example, do you get a warning when you click on this link ?

For example, do you get a warning when you click on this link ? That link works for me; I guess I should have said any link I click that leads out of the site. I don't click on every link on the site; but, every link on the site that I do click on that leads off-site gets me the warning. This holds true with Chrome and Pale Moon. This is something that has started happening in the last several months; I don't remember it happening a couple years ago.

So it seems that you are saying just image links. Did you click the link as Tom suggested? Did that cause a problem? (Sorry, I missed that you had done that without a problem) It had seemed that the image links were no longer a problem for members after we went adfree. But in your case that hasn't helped? Try the links in my post. They lead you off the site but aren't image links.

When I clicked the red word "post" in your message, it worked and took me to the (on site) page you intended; but, both of the links there, under the image link, gave me the warning.

Thanks, Buckskin. This is certainly above my level of expertise but may be of help to Tom and Andy when addressing your question.

BuckSkinI use uBlock Origin as well, and it does flag links to outside the forum as well. However, this is legitimate and not a form of malware. ProBoards uses the viglink service as an additional source of revenue and our forum going ad-free does not disable viglink. So as I understand it, if Adobe were participating in the VigLink service, anytime someone from here clicked a link that brought them to adobe.com, ProBoards would get paid. From Wikipedia: "VigLink's content monetization solution connects potential consumers to products by hyperlinking particular keywords in a website's content. The company's technology, VigLink Insert, scans a page for words that could be potentially profitable to the publisher of the page, and connects the keyword with a product from an affiliate program. The publisher is paid when a reader clicks a link contained in the content to buy or learn more about a service or product. VigLink also offers an outbound analytics service for clients to understand where readers go when they leave their site."

Until I better understand the whys and whats of all this, I will just leave things as is and do without clicking any links. There must be good reason why I get the warning.

Until I better understand the whys and whats of all this, I will just leave things as is and do without clicking any links. There must be good reason why I get the warning. You get the warning because uBlock sees a website redirect and considers that could be harmful. In many cases, it can be. In this case, it is just an opportunity for ProBoards to make some money. We appreciate the service ProBoards provides and we support their ability to do that. I would suggest the next time the warning pops up, you tell uBlock to permanently allow it. If you are strongly opposed to it, they provide an option to opt out at : www.viglink.com/opt-out/non.
