Hi everyone, Adobe has just released ACR 12.3. This update brings multiple new features along with enhanced user interface and updated keyboard shortcuts; adds support for new cameras and lenses; and fixes several issues. Adobe Camera Raw 12.3 | June 2020NOTE: If you can't install this update through the CC Desktop Application, Adobe has provisions in place to address this issue. Camera Raw plug-in installer

Wow! They’ve really made some big changes to the full version of Camera Raw. I can see using it a lot more than I have been. Blake Rudis is also enthusiastic -see his video here

Tony, that was my reaction as well. Adobe went all the way with this ACR update. I LOVE it!!! Now I'm wondering if some of the changes will trickle down to ACR in Elements.
Thanks for the link to that video! I'm going to watch it.

cjt,
This ACR update is for Photoshop. As of this writing, Adobe has not released this update for PSE 2020.

So if the latest ACR update doesn’t apply to PSE am I right in thinking that my version of PSE2020 still won’t recognize my NEF files from my Nikon D780 which as you probably know was released in January. Is there a way to import them as DNG files instead? Thank you kind people 🤗

Hi pipsternat , welcome to PSE&M! Glad to have you here. Yes, you are correct. Support for the Nikon D780 was introduced with the Camera Raw 12.2 update. PSE 2020 still has ACR 12.0. Cameras supported by Camera RawYou can convert your camera's Raw files to the non-proprietary DNG format using Adobe's free DNG Converter. Once your Raw files have been converted to DNG, they should open in the Raw Converter in PSE 2020. Use the link below to download the latest version of the DNG Converter for your OS. This Adobe document also includes instructions how to install and use it. Adobe Digital Negative Converter

Thanks for that Sepiana. Is there a way that I can convert my files to DNG as I import them into PSE?

pipsternat,
I may be wrong (and, if I am, someone please correct me) but I don't think you can do a DNG conversion as you import your files into PSE. It needs to be done before you bring them into PSE.

Thanks for that Sepiana. Is there a way that I can convert my files to DNG as I import them into PSE? Adobe has a free DNG converter that you can run on a whole batch of RAWs at once; I advise setting it to not overwrite the original RAW files. I have lost confidence in DNG as, in my own experience, DNG does not have most of the real advantages of a RAW file. Free RawTherapee will edit/convert just about any RAW file out there and is a very powerful program; it would be a good alternative, especially for files not supported in other programs.

Thanks for the update Sepiana. Blake's videos are very helpful. I wish he didn't talk so fast.

I wish he didn't talk so fast. Years ago, back in my college days, we had this Algebra teacher who talked ninety miles an hour; nobody ever learned a thing; we had another Algebra teacher who talked with an old country boy drawl and nobody had trouble keeping up with him. I always have trouble with YouTube How To videos where one would think the guy was in some sort of talking race, spitting words out like a Gatling Gun. I got to tinkering around one day and stumbled on a setting that would allow me to slow their voices down - a lot, if I wanted to. I have found this to be very helpful in following along; of course, it slows down the video as well, which is often a huge advantage. You might be able to find such a setting on these videos as well. >>> On EDIT: I just checked it out and these are YouTube videos; click on the little gear icon and then Playback Speed; click on 0.75 and then to fine tune, click on Custom and it will provide a slider; I set it on 0.85 and it slowed him down a lot without going overboard. If you hear really fast, you can speed him up as well.
