I like the way the white fence accentuates the curve of the path, Pete.

Margaret, what an inviting path! I like the way our eye follows the curve to the stone bridge. The reflection of the trees on the right adds to the charm of this location.
Pete....nice to see the biker in your first image....the first time we've seen a person on a road/path that has been submitted. I especially like the beautiful cloud formation as our eye follows the curve in your bottom image.

Taken today in a private garden open to the public - In the corner of a farmers field in the middle of nowhere. Amazing place once you can find it! Processed in Lightroom and Silver Efex Pro 2 Tony

Beautiful leading lines. I like the interplay of light and shadow inside the bridge. But of course, after seeing your image in the weekly I would like to walk right through and enter the world of color.

Well so there are, Margaret! The lines, especially the one to the side of the cycle lane, lead us straight through the image. Well-seen, Margaret.

Dennis, pleased to see you join this thread. I think black and white is the perfect choice for your road above. It helps to insure the viewer focuses on the way the road leads into the image. The towering trees help to define the path. However, had it been in color our eyes might have been distracted by the variation in color. As you have presented it line, texture and light are all working in harmony to emphasize the subject. If you are interested, take a look back at some of the past B/W challenges, note the theme. Try to imagine how they might have looked in color and ask yourself if black and white might actually have been the better choice. You also might find this article about deciding when to choose black and white interesting.

Crypt Lake trail, August 2013. Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta. Keep meaning to hike this once more in my life and yet I keep putting it off ... which is not good because I am getting older. But it's a serious 8-km uphill hike. (16 km round trip.) Not sure if I can still do it. Hummmm ...
