Is there a way to get rid of Creative Cloud but keep Elements 2021? I never save anything to any cloud (...that I know of.....)

Pat, Elements is not part of the Creative Cloud subscription (like Photoshop or Lightroom). Cancelling a CC subscription will have no effect on Elements. If you are talking about the new feature in Elements 2021 -- Cloud storage, saving your files to the Cloud, you don't have to use this feature. During the Save process, you are given two options -- Save your photos to the Cloud or O n my computer.Save to Cloud (Help file)

Thanks Sepiana. I tried removing the CC app on my computer, but it wouldn't let me - said there were applications using it, so I assumed it was a part of Elements that could not be removed.

Now I'm curious. Which CC app are you talking about? How did you try to remove it? Do you have a CC subscription to Photoshop/Lightroom?

I have Photoshop Elements2021 only and no subscription to creative cloud. It just showed up with this latest version of Elements. To remove it, I tried: - hitting the windows button at the bottom left of my screen - chose the gear icon (settings) and Apps - chose Adobe Creative Cloud (made sure Elements was not up and running) - chose uninstall -got message that said: "Couldn't uninstall Creative Cloud for desktop. You still have Creative Cloud applications installed on your computer that require it."
I do know that there are times when Creative cloud is slowing down my computer by working in the background.

Suggestion: You can be registered to Creative Cloud without a subscription for Lightroom or Photoshop or other paying apps. For instance, you can register to the Creative Cloud and download and install the free Bridge. I wonder if the new Cloud space offered to PSE 2021 owners for catalog folder backup or sharing is managed by the Creative Cloud. As I have the Creative Cloud with Photographer's plan, I can't test the idea. Maybe I'll test it on my Wife's computer by installing the trial version of PSE2021. Then I could try to see if CC is automatically installed and I could test if I can uninstall.

Thanks! This information helped a lot. I believe the reason why you have the Adobe Creative Cloud app installed on your computer is because you got PSE 2021. The new feature (Save to the Cloud) introduced in this version requires this app; it’s this app that enables PSE 2021 to save files to the Cloud, a storage space somewhere on the Adobe site. Based on the above, I’m inclined to say that, if you remove the CC app, you will render PSE 2021 inoperative. I haven’t done a lot of under-the-hood checking of PSE 2021 and I may be wrong. If you want a definite answer, I strongly suggest you take your inquiry to Adobe. I fail to understand how Adobe Creative Cloud/Saving to the Cloud is causing your computer to slow down. I have PSE 2021 installed on two computers and this has not been my experience. I would suggest you look somewhere else for the culprit. When Elements Goes into a Sluggish Mode

I do know that there are times when Creative cloud is slowing down my computer by working in the background. Background tasks like checking for updates or notifications should not slow down your work in a significant way. If my hypothesis is true, background backup of the catalog data will take some time.

Adobe Creatice Cloud Desktop was installed (without any notification to me) on my Win 10 computer when I upgraded PSE 2018 > 2021. I am unable to un-install it. I used CCleaner to disable all Adobe items from starting on boot, but still received the same message as srmoment.
Also created during upgrade was a directory ( _Cloud documents) which I deleted.
This is invasive and IMO possibly a move to include PSE as a subscription service.

Did you test removing the Creative Cloud with Elements 2021 installed? The purpose of having it is to provide better backups (automatic backup on the cloud of the catalog structure and database) and a way to share files on the cloud with other users or other devices. That also makes sharing files without having to make PSE work with external mailing services much easier and safer. On the contrary, staying with Adobe directly is safer and easier than having Adobe software work with Google or other softwares. The creative cloud does not take much space and the only background tasks are about backups and updates. If you uninstall, I fear that you won't be able to use PSE 2021. Neither me nor Sepiana can try it easily since we have the creative cloud for Photoshop and Lightroom. Don't throw away the baby with the bath water . By the way, we are troubleshooting another issue with the 'save to the cloud' feature: it seems that with Win 10 (2004) that feature disappears completely from the menu AND from the help docs. The backup function still works.

I have not yet removed CCDesktop; I'm still trying to figure out what if any benefits it provides to me. I don't use the organizer for any of my work since 2015, I use the editor primarily to take advantage of Elements+. On1 Photo Raw is my goto edit suite.

Did you test removing the Creative Cloud with Elements 2021 installed? I have not yet removed CCDesktop; I would be very much surprised if you could remove the CC app without uninstalling PSE 2021 first. In the Adobe document referred to earlier in this thread . . . Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop appAdobe says . . . As PSE 2021 makes use of this app, we are to infer that this warning also applies to it. And my guess is . . . when you reinstall PSE 2021, the CC app will reinstall as well.
