Someone mentioned towers. I didn't know there were still towers, I thought all the desktops had gone to all-in-ones. Be careful if you go that way, though. If CD/DVD drives are important to you, it's often not a part of the basic all-in-one system. I bought an external CD/DVD drive - just because I'm not ready to go without one. Everything seems to be downloadable nowadays, but still - I can't seem to give up my CD/DVD drive. I still want to be able to play my CD's...
I know - I know. Need to move into the 21st century.

I use the laptop screen for Organizer. Again - I need to move into the 21st century. An external monitor is an easy answer for using a laptop. Of course, then I'd need an external keyboard because I'm not a fan of laptop touch pads. Can you see a trend here? As far as my comments - just mentioning some of the things that would bother me if I went to a laptop for PSE (to make sure you've considered them all). I spend hours on the computer doing digital scrapbooking. I can't imagine doing that on a laptop. However, I wouldn't be that concerned about power and hard drive space. Even the most basic laptops are really an upgrade to those from years ago.

Like athegn said, " Editing is done on the Eizo monitor connected to the docking station." Excuse the mess ... I did not have time to dust this morning. ASUS gaming laptop (I don't game) with 27-inch monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Now that we no longer need to buy towers, I would no longer own a laptop. I use my all-in-one desktop for all the 'hard work' and I use my iPad for portability. In fact, I gave my 3 yr old granddaughter my laptop - as it was sitting in a drawer for a couple of years collecting some of that dust from your desk. Excuse the mess ... I did not have time to dust this morning. Even that 21.5 inch monitor is getting too small for my lousy eyes.
And I can't believe I got used to using that silly Apple keyboard and mouse - after having the ergonomic ones for all those years. The plan was always to attach the other keyboard and mouse, but...

Sepiana - I guess I'm thinking of those available at Sam's Club. Everything I've seen there is all-in-one - without disk drive. I was so happy when I could get my husband an all-in-one for his desk - and thus, getting rid of that tower that always seemed to be in his way.

Sepiana: this is what I get:- athegn, Thanks! Now I see what is going on. The link leads to the Adobe site in the UK and to the CC subscription plans; it's strange how it changed. I wonder how you can get to the PSE 2021 System Requirements page on the UK Adobe site.

I still want to be able to play my CD's... I use my CD/DVD drives almost daily. One huge advantage to CDs and DVDs is cheap portability of photo files. I document the many team & wagon rides, tractor shows, road trips, and etc. and then make DVDs to give to those acquaintances who participated in each event. I go all out, using printable DVDs and making inserts in jewel cases. I have a complete total of about fifty cents in a very nice DVD in plastic case that also has the impression that you have actually handed someone something pretty nice. Not so with a flash-drive; I would be afraid to plug a fifty-cent flash-drive into my machine; and, there is no way to identify a flash-drive without poking it in the computer - except maybe put a tag on a string.

Regarding cd/dvd drive. I have a portable drive I connect up when I need to read/play/burn a CD.

pontiac1940: I have all the hardware to do the same. Will be trying that before buying thd G7 17 as maybe I only need a 15" screen but the enhanced CPU and RAM of the G7 laptop?

Regarding cd/dvd drive. I have a portable drive I connect up when I need to read/play/burn a CD. Me too. My one concession when I purchased my new computer. Of course, I know there were portable drives, so it wasn’t that much of a concession.

maybe I only need a 15" screen but the enhanced CPU and RAM RAM is important and I do not have enough at 16 GB. The raw files off my camera are 48 MB and I've been shooting 100 to 300 photos daily. Sometimes I open 10 or more photos in ACR. Processing speed is okay but could be better. Some processing in PSE takes a couple of seconds. Good luck, Clive cats4jan said "I use my all-in-one desktop for all the hard work" My tablet covers for some trips, but I need a real computer for our summer place so that's why I have the laptop. At home, the 27-inch monitor is nice, but the 17-inch LT monitor is suitable when I am at the summer place. I schlep the laptop back and forth with a few drives. Works for me, but the all-in-one would be too risky moving back and forth...once or twice a week. We are all fortunate to such a variety from which to select.
