If recent history over the past 6 years is an indication to go by, Photoshop Elements 14 should be on the shelves in 3 months time (September). What would be on your wish list that you would like you to see added, modified or deleted in the upcoming release? While I have been pleased with version 13 the addition of curves would be high on mine. A few more guided photo effects might be nice as well as I do use them from time to time and find them fun to use.

I'd like to see 16 bit in all modes and a proper curves tool but will not hold my breath waiting for it.
I used to beta test for Adobe Elements and did so from ver3 to ver6 in all that while I constantly asked for layer masks to be added as a new feature as did some well known Alpha testers,it did not arrive till ver9.
So I expect to see no new major changes just a few more gimmicks, I hope I'm wrong.

Lots on my wish list but here are a few. Curves (really want) Smart objects (really want) More options for layer styles and effects. (really Want) Actions recording Vibrance layer 16 bit options Better options to customise the work space. (Really want) Channels option Layer group folders (really want) Bring back the multi page PDF setting
I certainly hope that they do not make it subscription. Also they are trying to simplify the interface for the quick snappers but there are lots of us who like more advanced options and cant afford or want to have subscription. So I would propose an advanced tab to be added to some of the interfaces which require better understanding of the program. This way the first time user would not feel so intimidated by the options.

If you want a "real" Curves tool, you don't need to wait for Elements 14. You can use a plug-in, SmartCurve (Windows only). SmartCurve offers full functionality. It allows you to load presets, is compatible with 16-bit files, and works with HSL and Lab color modes.

EDIT: Please see Michel's post. This plug-in is not compatible with Windows, the 64-bit version.

Layer group folders (really want) If you really want this feature, you can have it now. There is no need to wait for Elements 14. One of the members on the EV forum, dconsc, created an action to group and ungroup layers in Elements. The action was written for Elements 7 but, as a rule of thumb, actions written for this version will work in Elements 8 through Elements 13.
NOTE: If you have Elements 11, 12, or 13, load these actions via the Actions panel (Window>Actions). Do not load them via the Effects panel. There have been confirmed reports that they won't work when you load them via the Efffects panel.
This action can be downloaded from this thread. -- Unlocking non-editable layers

Hi Sepiana, I have the layer folders option already but it would be nice to have it built in with options to edit inside the folder as full Photoshop does. Thank you so much for posting the link I,m sure others will appreciate the link. By the way do you ever sleep, your always there to help out, full credit to you.

I may be wrong (and hopefully I am) but I don’t expect lots of changes and new features in Elements 14. Adobe did a major overhaul of Elements in version 11; I just don’t see them doing it again so soon. I think we will be seeing a couple of features being brought over from Photoshop and a few effects (Guided Edit?) and filters added. Adobe has been very consistent about giving Elements features/tools which once were available to Photoshop users only. Here are a few examples:
- Content-Aware (Spot Healing tool)
- Content-Aware Fill
- Content-Aware Move
- Refine Edge (the "deluxe" version)
- No need to install layer styles and actions; you just load them when the need arises.
- The Raw Converter uses the same process as the one in Photoshop and Lightroom -- Process 2012. (The Converter in Elements doesn’t have as many features though.)
- The ability to delete layers by just pressing the Delete key on your keyboard.
I don’t know Adobe’s rationale for bringing Photoshop features into Elements. My guess is that they will continue to reserve what I call "high-end" features for Photoshop only. This means that, if you want such features, you will have to pay for Photoshop, their "high-end" program.

Unfortunately, that excellent plugin is a 32 bit plugin which does not work on Windows 64 bits. You still have good curves add-ons available, and you can use the gradient map layer filter in luminosity mode, even in 16 bits mode. The included 'color curves' option in the editor is smarter than you think. You decide what effect you want and you see how the curves is shaped. Much more useful than moving curves points at random. And the key, for me, is to use the ACR module. I can forget curves most of the time and achieve better results.

I had forgotten completely SmartCurve is not compatible with Windows 64-bit. I added this information to my earlier post.
You are also right as to Elements' Color Curves. I agree. It works really well despite being a rather restricted version of Photoshop's Curves, with a simplified dialog box, a few preset settings, and not as many adjustment points.

You can also use Elements+ or Grant’s Tools to add Curves to Elements but both have their limitations.

I would think that PSE 14 will probably be hitting the shop shelves at some point this week. Although I probably won't be upgrading from 13, I will be most interested to see what the new features will be (and if any will be removed from current version).
