ipbr21054, My guess is that you are letting the mouse go before the drag-&-drop is completed; you need to hold the mouse down until the process is over. This is not an easy technique. See if this alternative will work better. 1. Click on the Layout button at the bottom of the screen. 2. Select either "Column and Rows" or "Rows and Column" (Either option will display your three images in the workspace.) 3. Use the Move tool to drag the 2nd image onto the 1st one.

Hi, Doing it like you advised worked.
Even when i just click on the image i dont even see the circle appear around the cursor like in his video. I havent let go of the mouse either.

Also ive noticed that not only do i not see the circle around the cursor i see in his video that when he drags the photo over the first photo that first photo tab is selected & when he lets go the layer is shown on the right.
I never get that far as im always still on the second image. I never see the first tab selected.
Is my photo even beeing selected ?

That circle you see around the cursor is not related to Elements; it's related to the recording of the video. It's a way to make the cursor more visible.
If you don't see any changes in the layer stack, this means that the 2nd image was not dragged onto the 1st image. When using the display options mentioned in my previous post (Column and Rows or Rows and Column), you need to click on the 2nd image to select it, and then, use the Move tool to drag it onto the 1st image.
Check the Photo Bin. There should be a blue line around the 2nd image thumbnail. The blue line means this image is selected.

Im doint it correct BUT its just not doing anything.
I select the second image. In the photo bin the correct image is shown with a blue border. With my left mouse button down & the move tool selected i move the curcor over to the first image tab. Now at this point in the video his photo tabe switches from the previous image to the image he is going to drop it on and create the layer. My tab never gets selected at all

FYI without me selecting any image but just moving my cursor over each image tab the tab then shows that you are over it etc.
If i select the image then do the same they never change at all

My tab never gets selected at all We are talking about two different techniques: - Using the Tabs/Tabbed Images feature. - Displaying the three images in the workspace, dragging one image onto another. In the video he is taking advantage of the Tabs/Tabbed Images feature. That's why he is placing his cursor on the tab. If you are using the Layout button ( Column and Rows or Rows and Column) to display the three images in the workspace, you don't click on a tab and drag it to another tab. You click somewhere on the image and, then, drag it to the other image.

From your first post try this
With the three photos open, select the the second tab image. With that image showing press ctrl+a to select all Next press ctrl+c to copy Go to the first image and with that image showing press ctrl+v to paste At this point you should now have two layers in tab one. Repeat this process to get the third image into tab one.

I think your getting confused. I am doing EXACTLY as in video. I select the image I wish to place onto the other. I select the move tool. I then drag to the first tab.
STOP
At this point my tab should change colour etc to show its selected but it doesn’t. This is the issue.

Just to be clear, I'm not getting confused as I was giving you an alternate way to do the same as you are unable to do EXACTLY what the video is showing.
With the move tool already selected, you left click on the image hold and drag to the other tab - correct?

That is correct and when you move over the tab for the image you wish to place this photo it should highlight / select it etc.
But it doesn’t. So I’m still then on the tabbed image I first selected.

Are you working on three of the same type of images - i.e. JPG or Raw? Are all of the images a Background Layers or Layers? Are any of the Images LOCKED?

ipbr21054, I notice in his video he is using a Mac. If you are using a PC then elements may behave a little differently. So you may have to use a work around. If I have 3 images open and wish to bring image 1 and image 2 as additional layers in image 3 (3 layers total). This is what I would do. With image 1 open, right click the Background layer and choose duplicate layer. Then a new window will open. You can rename the layer. Then under "Destination" there is the option to send it to another document. Using the drop down list select image 3. Similarly with image 2 open duplicate the background layer and send it to image 3. All done! Of course, with Photoshop Elements there are often several ways to do the same thing. With the photo Bin open, you can just drag a file into another open psd file and it will appear as a separate layer. Kind regards Chris

In the video he is using the Tabs/Tabbed Images feature (introduced in PSE 9). As far as I know, Adobe gave this feature to Elements on both PC and Mac. It should work the same. This is not an easy technique to use; it requires some practicing.
