Thank you Lillias and Clive. Now that we are free again I will visit the park where the tree is and hopefully will find a label near the tree to say what it is. It is in the grounds of an historical homestead open to the public and they have quite a collection of large and exotic trees and plants. The rhododendron flowers are very similar, but I know that this is from a tree not a bush, plus the flowers have those smallish black spots on some of their petals, stay tuned for a final identification.

Day 59 - Murray magpie taking a dip in a kerbside puddle. Also more commonly known as a PeeWee because of the sound they make.

Day 60 - First day of autumn, photo from last year as the ornamental pears are in no hurry to put on their gay colours just yet.

Success on finding out what the tree with the pink flowers is - Cape chestnut or Calodendrum capense from South Africa.

Did look very authentic! Was this taken inside or outside, Jacki?

Did look very authentic! Was this taken inside or outside, Jacki? This was an outdoors shot, an old building at the Showgrounds from memory. I remember feeling slightly duped when I saw the brick facade peeled away.

I remember feeling slightly duped when I saw the brick facade peeled away. Yea, I thought it looked like it was taken outside.....but couldn't imagine fake brick used outside. However, thinking about it I can think of places where I might have been duped as well.

Cool bird Jacki! Had to look it up. It is indeed a "wader" but in this case, apparently not a wader. Waders or shorebirds are birds of the order CharadriiformesQuite different than our curlews, yet closely related. Thanks. Clive
