The Nature of Things This was the most magical Place. It is a Rookery hidden behind a shopping center with a 5 1/2 foot fence. I brought my own ladder to see over the fence and was met with the most awesome sight. There were hundreds of birds, Woodstork, Egrets, Anhinga, all nesting in one very small area. There was so much going on at one time. Some of the Wood Stork fathers were flying off to gather and bring back sticks for the nests, there were so many baby birds in nests, Mama birds were feeding the young, and there were mating dances going on. I could have stayed there forever except after a long time standing and balancing on a ladder wore me out!!!!! I went back two times and each time was completely different but just as amazing!!!!!!!!  |
