We spent a great afternoon at a Steve McCurry "Icons" exhibition in Sydney. If it comes to your town I highly recommend it. Almost 100 large scale photos from locations such as Afghanistan, India, Cambodia and Myanmar plus some from Australia and New York. Here's the audio guide with about 50% of the images covered... link
When we were leaving, I noticed this lady enjoying the view...or rather not!

Barmy heat here today and not much better in the shade.

Thanks for the link Howard . The text describing the images was brief and interesting to read. I've gone through the first 17 and look forward to finishing up at another time. I was making a list of those that stood out for me which turned out to be quite a few. Rather than point them out, I encourage others to take a look. I think the train lovers might find the Taj Mahal and the ancient steam locomotive story particularly interesting.

I love that old weather-worn wood. What an interesting shape the roof has also.

CEDAR WAXWINGS Had a fun time this afternoon watching a pair of cedar waxwings during courting. The male is on the left and wooing the adult female with treats. The waxwing on the right is not a young one being fed. The guy is just "sharing his fries" with his girl.

How romantic! These birds have such a delightful name and their colours are so pretty.

These birds have such a delightful name Thanks Jacki. Although not seen in these photos they have red tips on their wing feathers that you can see here. The red tip color is apparently similar to sealing wax. Thus waxwings.

pontiac1940I'm amazed by the variety of birdlife you have around you...almost seems like you find a different species each day, and not only that but you get great shots of them too.

Grevillea Superb. Grevillea is an Australian native with hundreds of varieties. I have several of this variety in the garden because they bloom all year round and attract nectar eating birds. leaser they look amazing! And being natives they are low maintenance and can tolerate periods of drought and waterlogging alike. Just a bit of levels tweaking, otherwise straight out of camera.

jackscrapCedar waxwing showing the sealing-wax tips on the wing feathers. Had a grand trip. I went to find waxwings again and found them AND saw a loon, a bald eagle and two young grizzly bears. Woohoo. I'll post poor-quality bear photos tonight.
