Very smokey here today from the fires in Canada. Even with the windows closed it's permeating our apartment.

Corr blimey, Helen, that's bad, how you trying to keep the smell out. Kept the door and windows closed and pulled the shade across the sliding door in the bedroom where it was the worst. Much better today, thankfully. I like the dark tones in your picture on the left Jim.

Better than yesterday.....but still have an unhealthy air quality alert until 12am Saturday. Good luck Helen. It is actually raining where we are but the forest fire region on northern Alberta has a heat warning. Sigh. Jim, you have told us before I think. Those boats as summer "cottages" right? Is that tall yellow antenna a WiFi (internet) antenna?

Jim, you have told us before I think. Those boats as summer "cottages" right? Is that tall yellow antenna a WiFi (internet) antenna? Those boats, Clive, they are on the upside of the lock from the marina and the cottages are the housing estate I walk through to get to the Washlands, previous pictures I believe would have shown island of huts built on bricks to protect from river Nene floods. I'm not that techy to answer the antenna, so not sure what to make off it.

Decided to try the "2 gallon cookie jar" rose cuttings propagation method I read about since the overturned plastic bottle method I've used for years has only worked about 5% of the time, at the most.
The second photo, taken last month, is of one of my successes ... a(n?) oleander bush I propagated 18-24 months ago with the plastic bottle method via a cutting I took from our neighbor's plant that hung over our fence.
