What a stunning panorama, one huge rolling cloud across the range. I'm happy to say that Spring is here in my neck of the woods, and that Summer is going to be a blast. El Nino will be making an appearance.

We have a smattering of new Fall roses today so I harvested a few and brought 'em indoors.

El Nino will be making an appearance. Thanks Jackie. This range is not as pretty as some but when I can see it I am in a good place. First wandered around this area 57 years ago. Hope you have a great spring and summer. We have a smattering of new Fall roses today so I harvested a few and brought 'em indoors. Wow, your garden must be elegant. there seems to be a dispute over the sleeping arrangements…. HA HA!

Rode to my brother's (R.I.P.) house to make sure all is well and walked up through the park on the way home. A pleasant place to be..

a smattering of new Fall roses They're beautiful, Jim. And is that a cranberry glass vase? I have quite a few pieces. We are currently furbaby sitting this bundle on the right, there seems to be a dispute over the sleeping arrangements…. Well your guest looks like she made herself quite comfortable.

i.ibb.co/Hzb1K45/crop-of-dancer.jpgI was at a Euro-Balkan Fest today just down the street from where I live. There were foods from that area and there was a stage that seemed to be pretty well filled with costumed dancers and other groups. The costumes were really colorful. But, I do have a question about posting these kinds of photos of people. I have photos that are front views of several folks at a time in very wonderful outfits, but wonder about showing the faces in detail or in any way. Would appreciate some guidance here. cjt

Preparing for the Annular Solar Eclipse October 14th I decided to try my luck using a Monopix monocular (a small hand held telescope ) to make a solar projector. I was pleasantly surprised with these results where sunspots are visible. I used a tripod to mount the monocular which was surrounded by a rectangular piece of cardboard to cast a shadow onto a white piece of poster board. This method will also work with a telephoto lens with a tripod mount; point the front element towards the sun. NEVER EVER LOOK THROUGH THE REAR ELEMENT.

And is that a cranberry glass vase? I have quite a few pieces. Thanks, Helen. Yes, it's a cranberry "hobnail" vase that I picked up at a antique "mall" many years ago. If you look closely, you can see its layer of pale white coloring around the top 1/4 of the vase which sets it off nicely but the leaves and petals are covering most of it in this photo.

but wonder about showing the faces in detail or in any way. Would appreciate some guidance here. I don't see a problem with this provided the people are not in compromising situations. If the images are not used for commercial purposes, I think it is fine. If images were to e used commercially, then you would require a "model release." When people are out in public they are occasionally filmed or photographed and images used for TV news "street scenes" and no one asks for permission. Clive

I was a bit under the weather today but forced myself out for about 90 minutes. Had a good time taking bird photos. Cheating here a bit. Below the northern harrier (female) is a contact sheet of just a few of this afternoon's photos.
