Trail camera photo. I set up the camera by a beaver run a few days ago. This photo was taken at 3 AM today.

Finally today I got four that I liked Very nice, Helen. A beautiful creature but a menace here as an introduced species that decimates native wildlife. I think I like the 2nd one best, posing for the camera.

Had a most peaceful walkabout this afternoon after a fresh snowfall last night. Flat and dull light but no wind and so quiet in the woods. You could hear the pileated woodpecker a long way off as they hammer so loudly on the trees trying to find grubs deep inside the tree trunks. ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS
MY EYES SAW FOR ME
A PILEATED IN A POPLAR TREE . . .
Pileated woodpecker at Pavan Park, December 8 BTW, the corner wreaths are one of the free frames recently posted here by Sepiana. Thank you!

You could hear the pileated woodpecker a long way off Old people around here still call them Wood Hens.
Myself and just about everyone else around here wrongly call them Red-headed Woodpeckers, even considering the fact that we also have plenty of actual Red-headed Woodpeckers.
I bet not one in a hundred would know what you were talking about if you mentioned seeing a Pileated Woodpecker.

Old people around here still call them Wood Hens. Thanks. Love some of the local names. I've only ever known them as pileated woodpeckers but found out (inspired your comments) they are also called carpenter bird and stump breaker.

Oh nice. Where's the snow? KIDDING! Is the old petrol pump just for C'mas or a permanent feature in your lot? Very neat.

Is the old petrol pump just for C'mas I am going to surmise that there is a classic car/truck(s) in that garage to go with that gas pump.
The thing around here, if you have a classic car/truck (and money) is to buy and move an old time filling station, or build one, complete with old accessories, such as old oil can racks, drink machine, cigarette machine, etc.
Old filling station signs fetch a fortune.

Well...we do get snow in Oz and skiing is very popular (and expensive compared to other countries) but it rarely snows at 43C 😆. The house isn't ours, we spent the weekend at a place called Ebenezer, about 90 minutes west of Sydney near Windsor, but no scrooges when it came to Christmas lights as you can see. There were plenty of similar homes. As much as I love Christmas I don't have the time, patience nor inclination to go as far as these people. I suspect Buckskin is right re the car, there are plenty of enthusiasts and the area is only 2 hours from Bathurst, home of the big V8 races every year.
