The ocean was relatively calm today compared to recent days. I've been so impressed with the huge wave action that people in our area have posted in the past few days. Had to go out and see if I could get a few of my own.

Sorry for being quiet. Life is busy as it likely is for everyone. More pileated woodpeckers today. Female.

Is it true that they're all called Woody?

Is it true that they're all called Woody? We don't but pileated woodpeckers inspired the creation of the old cartoon character Woody Woodpecker.

Shingleback or sleepy lizard that we came across while on top of Mount Schank, which last erupted 20,000 years ago. 1938 Buick

Two from this morning as the sun was rising above the cloud cover...... I think the second one may be a more pleasing composition but I sort of like the drama of the first one. Thoughts?

I prefer the second. In the first, the foreground is too dominant given the interest it provides. The real subject is the lovely sky, so that should take preference in the composition I think, with foreground objects providing depth. Just my opinion.

It must be the time of year for interesting skies. In contrast to my post of a troublesome sky a couple of days ago...
