At the ponds this afternoon. I love fall when the geese are flying and gathering on "my" ponds. (I am waiting for the masses of snow geese to arrive.) Canada geese Mainly mallards

Curiously my local lake was devoid of bird life today so I pointed the camera up at this ancient oak tree instead: Tony

Sunday at the ponds. Canada geese coming in for a landing. And a muskrat which is just an oversized mouse that lives in the water ... about the size of size 12 work boot. The muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus) is a medium-sized semiaquatic rodent native to North America and an introduced species in parts of Europe, Asia, and South America. The muskrat is found in wetlands over a wide range of climates and habitats.
They can damage farm dugouts and irrigation canals, but generally are unassuming little critters that are always busy. The make tunnels along pond banks and eat aquatic plants even in winter and the survive well in their dens. They can swim about under the ice provided they have a breathing hole or don't go far from the bank den.

I have spent the greater part of my life outdoors and spent a lot of quiet sneaking around time where Muskrats should be, and I can count my Muskrat sightings on one hand with fingers left over.

Can't seem to keep up with things the last few days......but I did take these two today. This afternoon around 3pm. As the sun was going down this evening....I liked the way it was reflected in the clouds and the condo in the distance.

Went for a walk around the subdivision this evening. Someone has a small Halloween display on their front lawn. The moonlit clouds seemed fitting.

A kindly neighbour has given me access to his mulberry tree, haven't had mulberries since I was a kid and we used to climb Grandad's mulberry tree and come home covered in stains.

Went for a walk today in Exeter, Ontario where the town motto is Home of the White Squirrel It's rare that we see one but today there were 5 along the trail. Needless to say no camera and just a phone with only digital zoom so these were the best I could get. Must remember to take a camera with a real zoom lens next time. Tony
