I think its great; although I would like to see it with a few versions of drop shadows on the text. That would give it a 3D look. If you need help on how to do that just ask. Easiest way is Layer Menu>Layer Styles, Drop Shadow check mark and then choose your options. Good short video here. stinson, thanks for your contribution! Users of Elements will undoubtedly benefit from it. I usually take the Layer Style route when working with text because of its editing flexibility. I prefer a blank slate and to edit them myself based on the image in front of me. Do you know if you can save Layer Styles in Elements --- easily.

Just my twopence worth...I would be very careful about including shadows on a piece like this. The text is the most important part here and you want it to be clear. Shadows if applied wrongly can just turn your text into a blurry mess. - or maybe it’s my eyes! If and it’s a big if I was to think about shadows it would only be on the title and not on the text as a whole. As I say, that’s just my perspective on this.

I save the .asl file in Photoshop and, then, load it into Photoshop Elements (PSE 11 and above). NOTE: In PSE 10 and earlier versions, the .asl file needs to be installed in the appropriate folder within Elements.

Very true which is why experimentation is good and its the designers preference. Also why I prefer to start with the Layer Styles dialog and not the FX palette.

So here is an example of the drop shadow using the Layer Style settings. With and without and settings. In the image at hand I think the choice of color for the drop shadow is critical. For cats4jan this is one of our Hooligan Bengal brothers.

And cute, he is. Look out, though, I think he just ordered a new Corvette. He looks pretty darn pleased with himself.

As for the layer style on the text - I think it enhances the text in this example, but that's because it's a single line. As already been mentioned, shadows on multiple lines of text might be distracting and for me, shadowing only the title, wouldn't work. It's all or nothing with me.

Saving Custom Styles- It costs only $12. - Its creator is a member here -- Andrei Doubrovski. - He provides a five-star customer service.

I know I'm reopening an old thread, but it was this thread that pointed me to Printique for printing services and I wanted to express thanks to our members and admins for leading me there. I just received a couple of photo books for my daughter's wedding and I've very happy with the results. They weren't cheap, but I really like the quality. Thank you!!

Such a special time. It's a great feeling to finally see a photo book that you've spent time creating come together. Thanks for sharing, Andy.

I don't think you can get a better book than Printique. I ordered two books - one had satin pages at 10x10 and the other was shiny at 8x8. Although scrapbook pages are complicated and have a lot of things on them, everything was large enough to easily see on the 8x8 - even text was easy to read.
I got lay flat, hard cover with photo and text on the cover. Loved, loved, loved them both.
Turn around time was very good - but that was before Covid. I cannot vouch for turn around time right now.
The good news - they have templates where you just upload your photos - in the order you wish them to appear in the book - and the software automatically fills the pages. Then you can tweak them - with your own text (and probably some graphics) but you don't need to add a thing. The templates are pretty good without tweaking.
However, if your book has multiple occasions and people, I would date each page and I would add a small amount of text explaining the occasion.
Although something is very familiar when you create the book, realize these are keepsakes and will be handed down. Nothing worse than photo albums where no one knows who/what/where/when.
