One more ... Cutout the musician and then followed the tutorial and did some smudging and some dodge/burning, Brought back color on a linear light layer and then added Poster Edges.

I like how black and white accentuates the architectural details of your house, Sepiana.

I like how black and white accentuates the architectural details of your house, Sepiana. Helen, thank you! The same happened with the color version I made. It was the Find Edges filter that did the job!

Sepiana - Looks like an architectural drawing in a magazine. Very good! kdcintx, thanks! You are very kind. As a matter of fact, I got this idea from an architecture-related magazine.

Another one....tried Sepiana's suggestion of using the Find Edges filter on the structures in the image. Thought I'd try a B/W version as well.

Nice one, Sepiana. I like the muted colors. I also keep going back to look at yours, Lillias. I like the way you used a mask to combine the two images....hope to try that later.

I'm back on-line and great to see what everyone has come up with. I'm going to have to try adding in the poster edges or find edges filters as they seemed to give particularly impressive results. Keep up the good work!

I'm going to have to try adding in the poster edges or find edges filters as they seemed to give particularly impressive results. Tony, The Find Edges filter (applied on a lower layer) and the Color Dodge blending mode (applied on the inverted layer) work really well together to create a sketch effect. The Find Edges filter emphasizes the edges of the objects in the image against a white background. The more defined the edges are, the darker the lines will be. The Color Dodge blending mode lightens the image and increases the contrast in the bright areas but it also preserves the black colors. As the Color Dodge blending mode preserves the black colors, it will "build up" on the more defined and darkened lines created by the Find Edges filter.

Sepiana When are you applying the Find Edges filter? Are you applying it on the layer before the Color Dodge layer? Are the edges on a separate layer with a blend mode of ? For me, this is a new and interesting approach. Thanks
