This thread was inspired by Helen's thread Today's Picture. " Tis the Season - Fall" is meant to be a thread where members can post pictures that capture some aspect of the fall season. I envision fall colors, but there are also fall holidays, fall sports, etc. Feel free to give a little back-story. Comments about other's pictures are up to you, when and if, you feel like it. How often you participate is totally up to you.....daily, weekly, occasionally. So let's get started and see if we can inspire and encourage each other and just have some fun!

The ground is absolutely littered with wet fallen leaves here (Oregon), so I have been visualizing them in various "poses".

You, or someone, recently posted another picture of the same type five-pointed leaves; it is not often that I have to ask; what type tree are they from ? (I will probably feel stupid when I see that answer.) I notice the one on the left has a sixth point; to my eye, that sixth point does not have a vein. As for the thread, can the pictures be from whenever ? It may be nice to see fall scenes in the broiling hot summer.

Ain't that just like a blond; wearing her winter coat so she don't have to put the top up on her blue convertible.

Thanks Helen - Used to love Christmas colors, but Fall colors have replaced that love - such variety and beauty

I was taking HMCA's Hickory Nut photos when I spotted these Scarlet Maple leaves. The wind had been blowing ferociously for days; and, as we don't have any Scarlet Maple, I just thought they had rode in on the wind. I snapped this shot and left them lay. Then, the next day, I got to thinking "them sure wuz some purty big leaves" and my little ward, student, and follower might like them for show-and-tell or whatever they do at school these days. So, actually surprised that they were even still there, I bent to carefully pick them up; and, WHAT THE DICKENS, stuff started moving twenty feet away. As it turns out, the leaves were fake, as in plastic, not the real thing; and, they were attached to a quite long plastic "vine" to which the other end, some twenty feet away, had about a dozen more of these nice huge leaves.

I was out for a walk on a nearby Rail-to-Trail looking for a "Fall" image. This was one that I took.

They are from a Sweet Gum tree. I hadn't even noticed that one with a 6th point, but since they are all from the same tree it must be a mutant.
As for the thread, can the pictures be from whenever ? It may be nice to see fall scenes in the broiling hot summer.
I am not much for rules, but my idea was to provide motivation for our members to capture and share images that relate to the season in some way. If it is well-received I will start a different thread for winter, etc.

Me neither. As soon as I read Sweet Gum, then I knew that I should have known what those leaves were.
