My original thought was a fisheye effect and you can find a tutorial using the spherize filter here . I played around with it, added an inner glow layer style and it started to look more like a crystal ball and you can find several tutorials on doing that - a very simple one is here. I then tried spherizing multiple times and got some interesting results and also found that you can spherize negative as well as positive. So this week's challenge is to use the Spherize filter in any way you choose. Anything goes as long as you use Spherize at least once. If you want to use an action that's fine too - there are some good ones - as long as the action uses the spherize filter. If you can't find it it's one of the Distort filters and has been in every version of Elements and Photoshop since the early days. Here are some example of my playing: The first before and after used a Pixabay image of a city - I did a circle selection, applied the spherize filter at +100% twice added an inner glow layer style and zoom blurred the background: Here's another one from my lotus flower collection - done much the same way but with less spherizing And here's the before and after of what happens when you select an area (in this case the head of the gull) and use -100% spherize. Don't try this on your friends! Have fun spherizing and looking forward to seeing your creations. Tony

Looks like this technique would work well for making Christmas ornaments.
EDIT - I was not successful - maybe I didn't have the right photo...

I applied the spherize filter to 3 sections of the original image, then duplicated the image, flipped the result and combined using the Lighter Color blend mode. I was really tempted to keep playing with it, but forced myself to stop long enough to share what I am seeing so far! (click for full view)

Thanks for that link - I can make an ornament like that, but I was looking for a more globe-like shiny ornament. Your city photo really lent itself to a 'real' ornament look. In searching the 'net' I could find tutorials about making a basic ornament, but I couldn't find any with the look I wanted. This is the closest I came: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdDh68XUAlEUnfortunately, he doesn't teach us how to do the effect, he shows us how to assemble it from parts he provides.

I was about to say looking good everyone but I seem to be having trouble with Imgbb and all the images except Tom's have disappeared from my screen. Anyway thanks all for getting the challenge started and keep on playing!

Thanks Sepiana - glad to hear I'm not alone - I was looking at them on the iPad with Safari and then went to the PC Win 10 desktop to reply and all except Tom's had disappeared - I was using Edge. Now I can see Helen's latest but not her earlier one and yours. They just appear as little icons - Weird!
Just looked again and weirder - if I right click on the icon I get the option of Open Image and then it works. Just tried Firefox and they all show up. Must be something to do with the Chromium code-base as both Chrome and Edge use it.

I am using Chrome on a mac and can see them all. I do notice that images are taking longer to load but not terribly long. Certainly not as long as Clive reported recently.
I just checked ProBoards Support and don't see any newly reported issues.

Thanks Helen - all very strange but I can now see your latest and like the idea - not a job I'd like to do unless I was cocooned in a big safe bubble!

I just checked it. Right-clicking also works for me.
